Video: Romney Supporters Say He Was Right About the 47 Percent

Source: Mother Jones

For a friendly venue in Northern Virginia playing host to a Republican presidential candidate, yesterday's crowd at American Legion Post 176 was surprisingly small and low-key: Maybe 200 folks, mostly veterans in gold-piped garrison hats, crowded into the banquet hall to hear Mitt Romney give a boilerplate stump-speech.

Some supporters drove out to the suburban sprawl in style:

After Romney completed his short, statistics-heavy stemwinder on the evils of Obamacare and defense sequestration, many in the crowd were more than happy to offer Mother Jones their opinions on Barack Obama, "liberal polls," and Romney's videotaped dismissal of the "47 percent," first reported last week on this website.

Retired Air Force Major Joseph Smith said Romney's "47 percent" remark held a kernel of truth, and the truth was that President Obama "wants to buy" poor people. And Smith should know, since he says he used to run an unemployment office:

Sigh.

Of course Romney supporters aren't members of the reality-based community.

The article has video of one of them arguing that Romney isn't really down in the polls: " "No, he's not. He's down in the liberal polls, but he's not down in the ones that count. He's not down in the polls at all."

They keep saying 'this is a conversation that we need to have even though we don't like it' from people who BRAG that they 'get it all back at tax time'.

...after listening to some of these ignorant fools.

I tune into Fox News--and what these people are saying--is Hannity and O'Reilly talking points.

These people cannot think for themselves. They listen to Fox, lap it up like rodents and walk off into the world
and spew this garbage. Suddenly, a bunch of idiots are experts on the Middle East, the economy and they're
also psychics who can read Obama's mind and detect that he "hates America" and "wants to destroy capitalism."

I really can't take it anymore. These people are so f'n stupid.

The big problem is, that they vote in extremely high numbers. Only 50 percent of the electorate votes. The
stupid contingent makes up about 20 percent of the population. It's depressing that apathetic people do not
see that their lack of involvement strengthens the power of these ridiculous clowns.

I watch Fox News, and I can counter nearly every lie-based point they make. There are so many lies that it
is mind blowing.

Did you see Dick Morris's interpretation of ALL polls that show Romney losing? OMG, my husband and I were rolling on the floor and laughing. His explanation was so convoluted and inaccurate. Fox News watchers don't know anything about the science behind polling data, nor do they understand how polls are conducted. But if you look at each poll, the fine print at the bottom tells you how they arrive at their numbers. Clearly, Morris's explanations are laughable. But again....the Foxians just lap it up because they NEED to believe that Romney isn't losing. It's f'n crazy.

The biggest charade right now, is their interpretation of Benghazi and how Obama is handling that. There is
a frickin investigation happening. The White House is waiting for those results. Fox has twisted every single
word that has come out of the White House into lies and hysterical rantings. These people are not adults. They
are like stunted children who worship their daddy-tv--who tells them what to think and believe.

I could go on forever. It's just really disappointing to see such full-blown idiocy on parade.

programs. There are millions of R's whose paychecks depend on government contracts. They, however, never make the connection. My husband is an engineer working for a small subcontractor that provides services to the Navy. His boss is a diehard R who hates "big" government. The irony and idiocy is mind-boggling.

I recall the "Coach" character (Criag T. Nelson, I think?) claiming he never had a handout whilst IN THE SAME BREATH, stating he had been on welfare. You can't make this stuff up, yet this is the level of stupidity we are dealing with.

Ayn Rand, the super heroine of the Right received Social Security, etc. even though she had been outspoken against the program.

And on, and on it goes.

Does the Right ever realize its hypocrisy? No.

He said it was a problem that so many people don't pay income taxes and that everyone should pay a little. Straight from Fox.

I told him "YOU don't pay income taxes, do you want your taxes to go up?". He said that he did too because a chunk of his check is deducted every week. I had to explain to him that those were payroll taxes and his tax return would give 100% of the income tax back. Just because you don't pay income taxes doesn't mean you are leech. There many other types of taxes that you do pay, everyone contributes. He said "that's different" and just I stood there in awe.

Times like this make me glad I never bought a TV. Everyone should toss their tv out the window.
