Trump criticizes Fauci's Senate testimony: 'Not an acceptable answer'

Source: NBC

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Wednesday criticized comments Dr. Anthony Fauci made during a Tuesday congressional hearing about the risks of reopening the country too soon as "not an acceptable answer."

"He wants to play all sides of the equation," Trump said of Fauci, before emphasizing his confidence that the economy would quickly rebound from the pandemic.

"I think we're going to have a tremendous fourth quarter," Trump said.

"My concern, that if some areas, city, states or what have you jump over those various checkpoints and prematurely open up without having the capability of being able to respond effectively and efficiently, my concern is that we will start to see little spikes that might turn into outbreaks," Fauci said in response to a question from Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash.

about reopening the schools, due to all these children becoming ill now. I believe 3 have died in New York.

Now, the fighting will get messy. Why Trump is picking a side on this issue is crazy. Too bad he doesn’t listen to anyone.

tRump is a sociopath. His only way back to power is if he has a booming economy by October. He is all-in on that bet and doesn't give a damn how many people have to die if everybody can be forced back to work on fear of losing medical benefits or unemployment insurance.

but he does have a young child, and grandchildren. Which don’t go that far for him in the empathy department. I guess.

We don’t know much about this novel disease, we’ve only been studying it for 4 to 5 months.

I know Trump doesn’t want to end up in prison. That’s what his re-election is all about.

Even if the economy reopens, people will not just run out and spend money.
For one thing, many will have some very large debts to pay off, and will need every penny they make to do that.
For another, many people will choose to save any money they can to be prepared if a second wave of the virus comes in.
Thirdly, the sane people in this country aren't going to want to be in situations where there are a lot of people in close quarters, like theaters, restaurants, bars, sports stadiums, and malls.
And then there is the real possibility that many people will find that on line shopping is not a bad way to go. Retail in general could take a big, permanent hit.

The only businesses that I think will do well are those that are both necessary, and require in person contact.

Lets face it, nothing will ever be the same again, and Trump doesn't understand this basic truth.

21. Trump Wants Plausible Deniability When Deaths Increase

Trump wants to reopen even though he has been advised that doing so early will cause deaths to spike, because he is trying to bank on a modest improvement in employment leading to November. However, he also wants to say that Fauci and Brix told him that it was safe to do so and that he was never told that the number of deaths could dramatically increase if the reopening was rushed, particularly since Trump helped sabotage stay at home orders by encouraging people to disobey such orders.

This is why Trump is angry. He is going to lie, but he just does not want to have health officials on record discussing the risks of re-opening.

All he had to do is allow governors of each state to open. However, that would require some patience, which he couldn’t do.

a dime, come clean before one of Pelosi's House investigative committees and tell the entire country on live tv what a murderous, incompetent imbecile Trump really is.

Fauci's old enough, he's universally respected, he doesn't need the government paycheck. CNN or MSNBC will hire him at five times his old salary, and a big, fat book deal's waiting. End your career in a blaze of glory, Anthony. Be a man!

... election narrative.

tRump means that Fauci's statements do not match tRump's election strategy (which is the only one he has so he is all in) to get the economy by hook, book, or crook to have (he hopes) a boom by October. I think he won't get it.
