Voter registration problems widening in Florida
Source: Associated Press
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) What first appeared to be an isolated problem in one Florida county has now spread statewide, with election officials in at least seven counties informing prosecutors or state election officials about questionable voter registration forms filled out on behalf of the Republican Party of Florida.
The company said earlier this week that it was cooperating with elections officials in Florida. It said the suspect forms were turned in by one person, who has been fired.
In Florida, it is a third-degree felony to "willfully submit" any false voter registration information, a crime punishable by up to five years in prison.

(489 posts)This reminds me of the media's coverage - or lack of coverage - during the 1972 campaign. Other than the Washington Post the Watergate break-in itself was treated as a little more than a political prank. There was virtually no effort on the media's part to dig into it except, as noted, the Washington Post.
A story such as this, particularly coming just 12 years after the disaster in Florida in 2000, should be a major story.
About 18 months from now maybe the media will wake up to it.

(84 posts)The emphasis of Gestalt therapy is on what is being done, thought, and felt at the present moment, rather than on what was, might be, could be, or should have been. The Republicans would be well-advised to look at what they ARE doing. Instead of imagined horribles by people of color who Republicans will never meet in places they will never go.

(12,233 posts)the computer voting totals are "fixed", it won't look so oddball in a tight race.
Mitt is basically screwed. He's very far down in the polls, they know he's a cooked goose, but that doesn't mean they won't try to mess with down ticket races for the House and the Senate seats up for grabs.
Unfortunately, Mitt is so toxic, he's bringing down their entire house of cards. Karma couldn't hit a nice group of jack asses. KKKarl and the minions need to be mandated away into the history books, and we need to move Forward with addressing real issues.

(4,310 posts)up much of an argument. It seems as if there is so little voter fraud out
there committed by Democrats, they have to manufacture their own scandal
in order to support the argument for the bogus voter ID laws they are
attempting to pass. Suppressing the right to vote of potentially millions
of Americans is the real crime.
Not to belittle what has occurred here there is just much more at stake.

(3,425 posts)even if they are 100% guilty and it's total fraud, once a candidate concedes on the day after election day, it all becomes something to "look at for the future".
Look at 2000. Gore clearly won. There was clear evidence of voter suppression (caging) It's clear that Gore would have won be much higher margins if not for the unethical activities of Katherine Harris.
Gore even fought, but Bush still prevailed.
In 2004 there was plenty of evidence of foul play. But Kerry conceded and the whole thing was forgotten about.
If anything is to be done, IT HAS TO BE DONE NOW!!!!

(5,477 posts)got the law changed to make it a felony to submit false information on registration forms in Florida, and now they are getting ready to reap the benefits of that law. Thank him for making it that much easier to prosecute the slimebuckets that are doing it now.
This is a situation where irony meets karma...
