McConnell embraces subpoena of Obama-era officials
BY JORDAIN CARNEY - 05/19/20 12:35 PM EDT 438

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) signaled on Tuesday that he is backing efforts to subpoena Obama-era officials. ... McConnell, speaking from the Senate floor, referenced Senate Judiciary Committee Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) announcement that he will schedule a vote for a wide-ranging subpoena on June 4.

“Senate Republicans are taking steps to issue new subpoenas to a wide variety of Obama administration officials. ... The American people deserve answers about how such abuses could happen. And we intend to get those answers,” he said.

Graham announced on Monday evening that that he would have the committee vote on the subpoena as part of an investigation into the court established by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and “Crossfire Hurricane,” the name for the FBI’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Graham’s subpoena would cover dozens of officials including Attorney General William Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray, as well as former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, former national security adviser Susan Rice, former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and former FBI Director James Comey.

And blanket Executive Privilege. Bring it on, tie it up in the court for years and years until after McConnell, Barr, and Trump are rotting in the ground.

I45 should heed Lindsey Graham's warning that if they set the precedent that you can investigate and prosecute presidents who are out of office that he's very quickly going to be in that sinking boat.

all will be on point regarding facts, with the exception of Rosenstein, Barr. I think Wray will side with the facts. Let the American people see and hear the truth with facts. We have nothing to hide. Republicans did have a whole lot to hide and some of their hidden will be exposed.

That was for four dead Americans, who probably shouldn't have been in Libya anyway.

Now we have 90,000 dead Americans, right here in the US. I think that warrants hearings. Lots and lots of hearings. And lots and lots of subpoenas. You don't show up, you go to jail.

And then there's the State Department's IG being fired for looking into a questionable $8 billion arms sale. I think that warrants hearings. Lots and lots of hearings. And lots and lots of subpoenas. You don't show up, you go to jail.

And then there's the corruption of the McConnel/Chao family. Guess what? I think that warrants hearings. Lots and lots of hearings. And lots and lots of subpoenas. You don't show up, you go to jail.

And then there's the mismanagement of the national PPE stockpile. Once again, with gusto. I think that warrants hearings. Lots and lots of hearings. And lots and lots of subpoenas. You don't show up, you go to jail. And then there's the no-bid contract for masks from a crony. No masks. Fraud. Hearings.

Barr dropping charges against Flynn. Hearings.

Trump emoluments from family investments in hydroxychloroquine makers. Hearings.

Betsy DeVos allocating tons and tons of money to private and religious schools. Hearings.

just as Trumpypants ordered all of his Cabinet, WH staff and others to duck them. Then, if they persist, we file motions to have the D.C. courts review same and even then. the US Supreme Court. Time wise, it'll never get to the SC when, not if, we win the Senate.

An eye for an eye?

That doesn’t solve the problem, of course, but it lets those SOBs know that we can dance to this tune too.

Old Moscow Mitch will, well, you know, crap his pants if we play by the precedents that they established.

This should be a doozie.

would love to see the subpoena power fully investigate mitch's second wife, her family's shipping business and mitch's efforts to enrich that family.... maybe as soon as this coming January?
