Graham says Mattis buys into unfair media 'narrative' about Trump

Source: Washington Post

Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) on Thursday accused former defense secretary Jim Mattis of “buying into a narrative” from the news media that everything wrong with the country is President Trump’s fault, which Graham characterized as “easy, cheap politics.”

His comments came in response to a remarkable statement Wednesday by Mattis in which he accused Trump of trying to deliberately divide Americans and took exception to Trump’s threats of military force on American streets to quell protests.

Graham, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said during an appearance on Fox News that Mattis had earned “the right to express himself” but suggested some of the blame he was pinning on Trump should be attached to mayors of the cities where violence is occurring.

“It is so fashionable to blame President Trump for every wrong in America, and he can be a handful — And can he do better? Yes — but the problems we have in America today were not caused by President Trump,” Graham said, adding: “This is just such easy, cheap politics.”

I also agree with Trump - how weird is that - when he said:

"I think Lindsey Graham is a disgrace, and I think you have one of the worst representatives of any representative in the United States, and I don’t think he should run,” Trump said about the South Carolina senator at a campaign event in front of the lawmaker's home-state crowd. “I don’t think he could run for dog catcher in this state and win again. I really don’t. Other than that, I think he’s wonderful.”

Even a broken mind - Trump's - can end up saying something that is true. (It may have been the last truth Trump spoke in his lifetime.)

He correctly pointed out this is the inevitable result of a President playing "divider in Chief" on a daily reality show called the Trump Presidency. Of course Trump isn't 100% responsible for things that have been going on since before he was born, but his rhetoric has sure made hate and bigotry fashionable again.

Did little Lindsey say tRump "can be a handful"? THAT is how we talk about unruly kids, not 73 year old geezers. The pandemic falls at tRump's feet. He should have heeded all the warnings in his daily briefings, which he does not read. Had he taken the job seriously, the pandemic could have been controlled, massive unemployment would not have happened, business closings and shutdowns would not have happened. Has this little twink seen the lines of people at the food banks? If his constituents vote this loser into office again, then they have no brains. He has done nothing for his constituents, except made himself look like the fool that he is. How does tRump like Lindsey's new hairdo? Lindsey I have to ask "Do blondes really have more fun?"

… I'm, sure a guy like Mattis, with all of his accomplishments, background, and experience, is easily duped by the media and can't possibly think for himself.

Remind me again which one of you is the politician who relies on elections (and his voting base) to keep his job, and which one has no political agenda other than to have the country's best interest in mind?
