With recovery of last case, New Zealand has eradicated virus

Source: Associated Press

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said she was confident New Zealand had halted the spread of the virus but it still must be prepared for more.

Experts say a number of factors have helped New Zealand wipe out the disease. Its isolated location in the South Pacific gave it vital time to see the devastating spread of the virus in other countries. Ardern also acted decisively by imposing a strict lockdown early in the outbreak.

She said her government’s focus will be on the country’s borders, where isolation and quarantine will continue.

Just over 1,500 people contracted the virus in New Zealand, including 22 who died.

10. Kauai is doing well. Wish I could say the same for Orange County CA where I live.

We have 119 new cases and 1 new death reported just in one day today. We've lost 177 people and had 7,440 cases total to date. https://occovid19.ochealthinfo.com/coronavirus-in-oc

What's so maddening about Orange County is that about half our population are rabid Republicans who believe social distancing and wearing masks violates their Constitutional rights and is a liberal plot to steal their freedom. So, they're engaging in risky behaviors that spread the virus, and think they're being patriots by doing so. New Zealand, and apparently Kaui, do not have this problem.

those who are brainwashed by BLOTUS are making it killer dangerous for everybody else, too. Not just their own stupid selves. I'm sorry.

Kauai pulled together and got busy being serious about it, like New Zealand, from the beginning.. & look at us now.

Restaurants are opening up with masks & gloves for servers.. at least I saw Kauai Beer Co was open when I walked by it on Friday.. and hopefully no visitors get in with the CV to spread it. I don't think so because of the strict guidelines.

StaySafe!

Good for them, but other waves are coming.

This virus isn’t going to give up that easily.
