Susan Collins says she had no idea Brett Kavanaugh was so anti-choice

After being shredded online Monday, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) was trying to clean up her vote to support anti-choice justice Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court. Collins, who has long claimed to be pro-choice, said that she believed Kavanaugh when he lied to her saying that he would uphold all legal precedent for abortion cases.
............................
Kavanaugh, however, voted for the law to be upheld, flying in the face of his promise to Collins.
In a statement Monday afternoon, Collins claimed, Kavanaugh gave no indication in his dissenting opinion that he supports overturning Roe. It ignores the precedent of abortion cases other than Roe that Kavanaugh promised he would uphold.
Womens rights group tried to tell Collins that Kavanaugh would be an anti-choice judge, but she refused to believe them. Shes now in the race for her political life for her votes being so far outside the mainstream of Maine voters.

(70,200 posts)Her fingerprints are all over this: Susan Collins pummeled after Brett Kavanaugh votes to uphold Louisiana anti-abortion law

Written by Alex Henderson June 29, 2020
The U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision, has struck down a Louisiana anti-abortion law, which required doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges in a local hospital. Justice Brett Kavanaugh was among the four dissenters, and Sen. Susan Collins of Maine is being slammed on social media for voting for Kavanaughs confirmation to the High Court in 2018.
When she came out in favor of Kavanaughs confirmation, Collins insisted that Trumps nominee would be pro-choice in his rulings and recognize Roe v. Wade as settled law. In 2018, Collins asserted, Interest groups have speculated that Judge Kavanaugh was selected to do the bidding of conservative ideologues, despite his record of judicial independence. I asked the judge point-blank whether he had made any commitments or pledges to anyone at the White House, to the Federalist Society, or to any outside group on how he would decide cases. He unequivocally assured me he had not.
ADVERTISING
But as Kavanaughs ruling on the Louisiana law demonstrates, he is very much a social conservative in the Clarence Thomas/Antonin Scalia vein a fact that Twitter users have been pointing out in their anti-Collins posts.
The Lincoln Project, a Never Trump conservative group, tweeted, Kavanaugh tried to strike down a 4 year precedent, but instead strikes down Susan Collins 24 year Senate career.....................................

(16,945 posts)If you are a U.S. Senator, and you don't have time to do all of your own research, you hire people to do the research, and you check factoids they give you.
Other than that, collins is as big a liar as the impeached traitor.
Calling her dumb is is giving her credit that she does not know what she is doing. She knows exactly what she is doing and what she is voting for. She is a Republican liar just like the lot of them and the good people of Maine should be insulted that she attempts to play them as fools.

She, like all of the members of her party, hates America; until they attempted their radical reactionary program, The United States was a country where women controlled their bodies, where citizens had a right to be treated equally before the law, where the American President was not allowed to bribe foreign governments with impunity, etc, etc.
Collins made it very clear that she hates that America.
Let's just call her coat hanger Susie!
