Scoop: Trump regrets Kushner advice
Source: Axios
President Trump has told people in recent days that he regrets following some of son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner's political advice including supporting criminal justice reform and will stick closer to his own instincts, three people with direct knowledge of the president's thinking tell Axios.
Behind the scenes: One person who spoke with the president interpreted his thinking this way: "No more of Jared's woke s***." Another said Trump has indicated that following Kushner's advice has harmed him politically.
Why it matters: This could be the final straw for federal police reform legislation this year, and could usher in even more incendiary campaign tactics between now and November.
Details: The sources said the president has resolved to stick to his instincts and jettison any policies that go against them, including ambitious police reform.

(4,138 posts)because it uses community rating. Aside from a waiting period on being hired, pre-existing conditions generally arent a thing. That doesnt mean pre-existing conditions arent a problem for people who buy individual insurance for whatever reason.

That is why they got rid of it.
Do you debate that the clause was used by health insurance companies routinely?

Not saying I know how every employer-based insurance policy 'worked' but I distinctly remember (at least believing) that your chances of getting things covered that you already had wrong with you were much better via employer-based insurance.

(31,109 posts)preexisting was available to them, which is why ACA took it away.
It was very common for people to not be able to change jobs for this reason.
It would be interesting to research which states varied, as usually the state regulated the insurers and what they could do varied but I am pretty sure it was available in all states.
And think about it this way, if they get that luxury back they could likely require all insureds to be tested for covid and anyone with it would not be covered for it.
That is what is at stake, not for every policy maybe but many.
They are going to do what they can get away with, always. Maybe Blue Cross and Shield would be less aggressive about this, but maybe not too. I dont want to find out.

(33,643 posts)Much more so than post-ACA, where now we have lots of minimum standards (yay!).
But one thing I remember about 'why you wanted employer-based insurance instead of your own' was that they couldn't refuse to insure you over ... basically anything.
I was not aware how common (or not) that carving out pre-existing conditions exclusions was.
I was always in California so may be that laws there didn't allow for those, or only in limited fashion.

(9,426 posts)No, tRump does not see the pandemic as a problem, since nobody in his family has suffered from it - YET. Wasn't is Jared who said it was nothing to worry about, at first? They treat the presidency like a family business. Act like the Treasury is their own slush fund. I can't wait to get them OUT of the WH, fumigate the place and prosecute the entire crime family and their co-horts.

Breitbart had to be told by Trump to cut back on criticizing Jared.

(64,995 posts)With this family, profitable seems to mean not losing money.
My numbers say that with the "loans" (translation, tax dodges) from daddy & the inheritance he went to court to keep nearly all of, PINO's ROIC is 1%, at best.
Over an era where a combined S&P/NASDAQ portfolio would have yielded 9.2%.
Since the really don't know how to make a profit, Jared is useful as long as net profit isn't negative!
