Isaias Has Regained Hurricane Strength and Will Make Landfall in Carolinas Tonight

Source: The Weather Channel

Hurricane Isaias (ees-ah-EE-ahs) is expected to push ashore into the Carolinas late Monday or early Tuesday with life-threatening storm surge flooding, damaging winds and flooding rainfall. Isaias will only slowly weaken as it spreads those impacts up the East Coast as far north as New England through early Wednesday.

A hurricane warning has been issued for a portion of the upper South Carolina and lower North Carolina coasts since Isaias is forecast to make landfall as a Category 1 hurricane tonight. The hurricane warning includes Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Wilmington, North Carolina.

This is fairly typical, but very dangerous. Combine with 5-8 inches of rain a hundred miles inland and you have a big mess for all points north. Sustained winds are now up to 85 mph. Because it is moving fairly quickly, will still be fairly strong all the way up the eastern seaboard.
