Host Nicolle Wallace, who has long stood out in MSNBCs daily lineup as a former GOP strategist, will now have a bigger perch at the network when her show doubles in length from one hour to two, starting Aug. 17.
Her expanded role comes as part of a slate of programming changes announced by MSNBC on Monday, including anchor Chuck Todds weekday show moving from the more coveted 5 p.m. time slot to 1 p.m.
Todd, who will continue as host of Meet the Press on Sunday mornings on NBC, will also begin anchoring a new weekly show in September that will air on streaming news service NBC News Now and the companys Peacock streaming platform.
Wallaces Deadline: White House show has been something of a ratings success story for the network. In July, the show bested its 4 p.m. competitors on both Fox News and CNN in total viewers, with an average of 2 million people tuning in each day. (Though it came in third in the 25-to-54 viewer demographic, which is most valued by advertisers.)......................

I like her a lot and am happy that she is now permanent.

(297,154 posts)a tv anymore.. but I read DU.
And, I did an OP on him in September 2014 when he took over MTP and had President Obama as his first guest.
The interview didn't go well for Todd. He told Obama that he never talked about Syria when he had.. four times right before Chuck said that..
Part of being a good interviewer is to actually Listen to your interviewee.
PBO's WTF Expression when 10 Seconds after he mentioned "Syria" Chuck Todd said "You have Not mentioned Syria..."

(8,964 posts)Trumpism is deeply ingrained in what the GOP has become. It's not going to readily disappear. And given that, I would not expect Nicole Wallace and other former Republicans to embrace the party any time soon. On the other hand, I can see the Never-Trumper element aligning themselves with Democrats as a centrist alternative to the liberal and progressive elements of the party.

(90,645 posts)At first I pegged her as a cutie-pie with a great smile, but very quickly saw that she is well-prepared and has an uncommon gift for picking good panelists, drawing them out, and letting them finish their freaking sentences. Too many hosts and anchors (talking to you, Chuck T and Chris Matthews) let their egos and hobby-horses get in the way.

(7,681 posts)Nicolle Wallace, a frequent Morning Joe guest and former George W. Bush spokeswoman, gave an impassioned defense of the agencys waterboarding of three al-Qaeda suspects.
In the history of this country, I think months after 9/11 there were three people who we thought knew about imminent attacks and we did whatever we had to do, Wallace said. And I pray to god that until the end of time, we do whatever we have to do to find out whats happening.
The notion that somehow this makes America less great is asinine and dangerous, she added.
Wallace then expressed frustration that White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest wouldnt say whether President Barack Obama found information gleaned from those harsh interrogation techniques helpful in tracking down Osama Bin Laden.
Thats what this is about. Does this help us kill people who want to kill us regardless of what we do, she said. But the notion that what we do affects terrorists is a lie. Its a lie perpetrated by political correctness and liberals, and its dangerous.
Former Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean pushed back on that point, arguing that the problem isnt whether the CIA waterboarded three people but rather what else the U.S. government did that American citizens dont know about yet.
What else did we do to make sure that 3,000 people werent blown out, obliterated on a New York City morning? Wallace said. I dont care what we did.

(2,802 posts)that Nicole Wallace types just want to save the Republican Party from going into the dustbin of history, where it belongs, unless they do make radical changes. I don't think many of these tigers will change their stripes, though.

(15,278 posts)I wish she'd been the one to interview Mary Trump, but she'd already interviewed Bolton (and did a good job).
She really listens to what the interviewee says and she asks great follow up questions.
As for her political leanings, it seems like she's had her Saul at Tarsus moment regarding Republicans. She has said several times that I've heard on air that she feels the Rs, including her, are responsible for promoting racial division in order to win elections. You never know how someone will evolve. David Horowicz went from being a lefty to being a right winger. David Brock went the other way.

(67,782 posts)....opportunities to be great.
I like her style and delivery, and she's proven to be a pretty good ally of Democrats.
The second good news is that Chuck Todd seemingly has been demoted to a relatively meaningless slot, especially meaningless since he'll be opposite Brianna Keilar on CNN, who just might be the best daytime anchor/host of all.
I wonder, is Todd still the moderator of the Sunday Meet the Press show? I haven't watched that in years.
