Trump Leans Into Fear Tactics In Bid To Win Midwest States

Source: AP News

5 mins. ago.

MUSKEGON, Michigan (AP) — President Donald Trump leaned into fear tactics Saturday as he accused the left of trying to “erase American history, purge American values and destroy the American way of life” in a late reelection pitch to voters in Michigan.

“The Democrat Party you once knew doesn’t exist,” Trump told voters in Muskegon, Michigan, ahead of a rally in Wisconsin — two states in the Upper Midwest that were instrumental to his 2016 victory but may now be slipping from his grasp.

As he tried to keep more voters from turning against him, Trump sought to paint Democrats as “anti-American radicals” on a “crusade against American history.” He told moderate voters they had a “a moral duty” to join the Republican Party.

He also revisited his monthslong feud with Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Whitmer, a Democrat, was the focus of a kidnapping plot by anti-government extremists who were angered by lockdown measures she put in place as a result of the coronavirus. Thirteen men have been charged in connection with the scheme, which included plans to storm the state Capitol and to hold some kind of trial for the governor.

It’s a theme Trump leaned into, while the crowd chanted “Lock her up.”

but alas, 3.5 years have passed. COVID-19 and for majority of Americans the economy too - it sucks.

Super spreader spreading. Things will be truly bad by election day. Many more deaths, many more suffering both from COVID-19 and the economy, many more families in mourning. And it did not have to this way.

I hope the orange shitstain this fucking prick has smeared all over the Retrumplicans takes them 5 generations to scrub off.

When this fucker is in prison, those that supported and enabled him need to be shunned like the Nazis are in post WWII Germany.

That includes folks I used to consider friends, family, or comrades.

how so many of our fellow citizens can buy into the nonsense and stupidity spouted by this vapid moron.

Good gawd, 220000 of our our friends, neighbors and family have already succumbed to a deadly illness that this nincompoop, as pres, has done essentially nothing constructive to try and contain. In fact, it's just the opposite. He has been pretty much the agent promoting every conceivable behavior that should not be followed. And yet these fools still hang on his every word.

It just continues to confound and boggle the mind. I mean, if I have an issue with the plumbing in my house, I call a plumber. If my car is running poorly, I go to a good mechanic. What I don't do is consult a glorified, semi-literate slumlord if I have a medical issue. For the life of me, I can't figure out if he really is this stupid or just maniacally evil. (And that opinion can change by the hour.) What is the possible explanation of how this idiot commands such a following? Beyond the irrational view of "but we're pissing off the libs." Sorry, but that view doesn't equate to competent governance in any way, shape or form.

I realize I'm stating the obvious, and likely the same views as most here, but I can't take much more of this utter, insane nuttiness. Who, in their right mind, buys this constant avalanche of BS? It's almost like another epidemic of a pernicious virus has resulted in a serious mental illness that causes severe irrationality and delusions amongst 40% +/- of the population.

and family.

Look, it's pretty fucking simple. Maybe he fooled people once. Maybe they thought they'd give him a chance. Maybe they didn't know what an evil, moronic, hatefilled asspickle he truly is...

But, at this point. After what we've witnessed. After what we've learned, not only about his corruption, fraud and criminality of the past 4 years, but for his entire shitstorm life

If after all that, people still support him, it's not the economy. It's not law and order. It's not regulations or healthcare, or judges.

If after what we've witnessed with our own eyes they still support him, there's only ONE REASON and ONE REASON ONLY...

He has promised to hurt the people "they" most want to see hurt

That's it!

Think about that before you let people like this into your life.

I'm one of the fortunate ones I guess. I have no (known) trumpers in my family or amongst my circle of friends. Anyone I knew that started spouting rightwing nonsense I (or we) ditched years ago, or since, starting during the Reagan years. I just never had the patience to put up with that krap. Such folk weren't worth trying to deal with beyond maintaining a cordial, usually work related, relationship. Even then, the dingbats were very few and far between. I guess that means I have no real frame of reference, other than what I see or read online.

Presumably that could be a blessing, but also likely a curse, because the current wave of hatred and irrationality makes absolutely no sense to me and is completely beyond the scope of personal experience. I've never had to deal with it up close. I can't begin to imagine how jarring or infuriating that could be if it were someone close to me, like many here who've related experiences with any number of family members.

He's already done it - he's killed ~220K people due to his dereliction of duty and failing to take proper steps to protect Americans. His depraved indifference to human life is criminal.

Now that is a great description of what Trump has been doing in the past few years!

Trump obviously hasn't been watching his own behavior closely.

Trump is insane. So is anyone who votes for him. Unfortunately, their numbers are legion. So VOTE!!!!!

there are an incrementally greater number of "mask-wearers" (or at least attempts at it with them as "chin guards" ) so maybe something is sinking into the thick skulls.

Erase American history, purge American values, destroy the American way of life.

I am now more than ever convinced that his base is the stupidest group to ever have inhabited our planet. Everything the fool stated above, Trump has done single handedly.

Erase American history? Republicans have, for a long time, rewritten books that our children use in school to reflect the Republican fantasy of history - eliminating evolution as best they can, denying science and it’s provable facts, and creating a history of their own choosing.

American values, starting with the one person who should personify them the most, the President of the USA, have been made a mockery, yet those fools salivate at his third grade diatribes. We have become the laughing stock to our allies and a brother in arms to our adversaries. Donald J. Trump has done more to obliterate American values than any other president in our history. (If I am in err, please forgive me)

Destroy the American way of life? I nearly lost my cookies on this one. Again, his idiot base can’t see what’s right in front of their eyes. Putin, Bolsonaro, Durban, Erdogan, and Kim Jong Un just to name a few, are eagerly awaiting America’s transition into a Totalitarianism with the idiot king at the helm.

I couldn’t believe what I read - what he said. I’m trying my best to state this with a civil tongue, but it’s ................ difficult.

Pray for a landslide.
