USPS Says COVID-19 Is Delaying Ballot Delivery In Swing States

COVID-19 cases and “employee unavailability” are behind the significant slowdowns in ballot delivery happening in parts of Michigan and Pennsylvania, the U.S. Postal Service told a federal court this weekend.

Agency data shows that a significant share of absentee ballots in Detroit, greater Michigan, and central Pennsylvania — all regions that could play a crucial role in deciding the presidential election — are not arriving within an “on time” window of about two days. On Saturday in the greater Michigan district, the percentage of ballots delivered on time was 69.1%. It was 78% in the Detroit district, and 56.6% in central Pennsylvania.

Hundreds of USPS employees in Detroit facilities have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. A “disproportionate” number of postal workers in Detroit are still contracting the coronavirus or missing work for family obligations or because family members have the virus, a postal official testified Saturday. The same is true for facilities in central Pennsylvania.

“We’re reacting to it, making the necessary adjustments,” Dane Coleman, the regional vice president of processing operations for the eastern U.S., said. Plants in central Pennsylvania and Detroit are sending some of their non-election mail to other facilities for sorting help, and the agency is reassigning nearby employees to cover staffing shortfalls, Coleman said. “But we do know and acknowledge that we’ve had some impacts because of that,” he added.

delivered to voters or is it the ballots sent back in aren’t being delivered to election board? If they didn’t get their ballot to send back in, I would just show up and vote telling them I never received my ballot I requested.

And I hand carried my ballot back to the local clerk in my rural northern Michigan town.

Yes, the mail is suddenly slow in the last month. On Friday, Oct 30, I got a letter mailed from PA post marked October 10. Today I got two more- one post marked October 21, and another Oct 17.

Mail is taking 14 to 20 days to transit from OPM (1st class letter) in Butler PA to my small town in northern Michigan.

Secretary of State office shows 400,000 absentee ballots requested that have not yet been returned as of Saturday.

29. The law is clear. Like Hanen in Texas, they may not like it, but that is the law and it was clear.

The States decide their election rules not the Supreme court. If they try it, they will be met with resistance since the States in question will not have willing governors to do their bidding.

Joe has over 4,000 lawyers set for just such bullshit and when I watched his main lawyers interview he made me feel at ease, they got this, if any shenanigans are pulled we will win. Unfortunately, for them, the law is on our side when it comes to counting votes.

I just feel good about this, I have to feel good about this, no matter what happens, I refuse to let them bring me down. I am a good person and can wake up and take a breath each day, if they pull something, that is the time to remain positive and stay focused on what needs to be done to, not only survive, but to survive in a way that assures continued sanity.
