Joe Biden becomes first Democrat in 28 years to win Georgia

Source: CNN

(CNN)Joe Biden will win Georgia, CNN projected Friday, striking at the heart of what has been a Republican presidential stronghold for nearly three decades. The former vice president is the first Democratic nominee to triumph in Georgia since Bill Clinton did it in 1992.

Biden's victory adds 16 electoral votes to his tally, bringing him to 306 -- matching President Donald Trump's 2016 total. With CNN's projection that Trump will win North Carolina, the final tally is 306-232.

In Georgia, Trump had raced out to an early lead in the counting, but Biden surged ahead as the votes from Atlanta and its suburbs were tabulated.

The Democratic ticket's historic success has been fueled by a grassroots organizing renaissance that rallied a rapidly diversifying electorate and suburbs that are, at once, growing and becoming increasingly inhospitable to Republican candidates. Georgia Republicans have compounded the issue, with state lawmakers refusing so far to expand Medicaid under Obamacare and Gov. Brian Kemp, in 2019, signed a so-called "heartbeat bill," one of the country's most restrictive abortion laws.

CNN also called North Carolina for trump, but they separated the stories after the initial announcement.

The Electoral College tally is 306-232, exactly the same as trump's "landslide" against Clinton. He'll call this one close though, I'm sure.

Selling point for winning the 2 GA run-offs.

We have a mandate in GA with a presidential win. Now we “JUST” need to get the Senate races.

Great news!!

And since they also called PA for Trump, I want to see Trump shut his darn mouth and concede.

And tell lil’ miss Murphy to get off her butt and sign the transition papers.

Fed up

...is the fact that California is still counting votes.

Nov. 20: Last day that vote-by-mail ballots postmarked by Nov. 3 may arrive for counting by county registrars.

Nov. 25: Last day that county registrars may notify voters of a changed ballot.

Dec. 3: County election officials complete the official canvass.

Dec. 4: Counties send a certified statement to the secretary of state.

Dec. 11: The secretary of state determines the votes cast for candidates for state and federal office and for the statewide ballot measures, certifies the results, and issues certificates of nomination/election to the candidates who were nominated/elected.

They actually used a concise sentence saying that Biden defeated trump. So much nicer than hearing their mealy-mouthed efforts that make the outcome sound uncertain.

on all counts, but I caution against using the words "landslide", "mandate" and "blowout". Let's remember that almost 73 million people voted for the Orange Asshat....

Control of the Senate is iffy, at best, and we've got unrest in The House. The next 4 years are going to be turbulent, methinks....
