Incoming House member says "masks are oppressive" as U.S. breaks record for daily COVID-19 cases

Source: CBS News

Congresswoman-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has drawn criticism for her support of the QAnon conspiracy theory, said Friday that "masks are oppressive" during orientation for incoming representatives. Greene's comments come as over 240,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus, with the U.S. breaking another record for daily cases on Thursday.

"Our first session of New Member Orientation covered COVID in Congress. Masks, masks, masks....I proudly told my freshman class that masks are oppressive. In GA, we work out, shop, go to restaurants, go to work, and school without masks. My body, my choice. #FreeYourFace," Greene, who was elected to a district in northwest Georgia last week, wrote on Twitter.

Anyone who enters the Capitol complex are required to wear masks while on Capitol grounds. The mayor of Washington, D.C. has also ordered people must wear masks while in public. Public health experts agree wearing a mask helps to mitigate the spread of the virus.

Greene will likely be a firebrand in Congress, as she has posted racist videos, shared QAnon posts and floated conspiracy theories about the September 11 terrorist attacks. Although the House passed a bipartisan resolution condemning QAnon earlier this year, Republicans seem ready to embrace Greene.

Who knew they were all such delicate little flowers?

If I can suffer through my glasses constantly fogging up, they can shut up and mask.

They are willing to infect others to make a selfish political point (which amounts to nothing more than screaming the fact that they are racist, sexist, homophobic, immigrant haters, and are a rabid turd supporter).

Quite frankly, I don't care if those with this attitude take another breath. Let them die, it would greatly improve the basic stock of humans. Fucks? Still out. Delivery of fresh fucks are currently delayed, lost somewhere in a stack of mail-in ballots, probably somewhere in South Carolina.

But unfortunately, as they die they will take many innocents with them.

Sad. Bigly.

Fri Nov 13, 2020, 04:10 PM
Nov 2020

Do they believe particles of infected droplets can be projected into the air through the mouth or nose and others close could catch viruses? Even like the common cold?

If they believe this basic fact, then how do they explain that covering ones mouth and nose, preventing most of those particles from entering the air space around them, is NOT helping?

I think sometimes reporters try and make it more complicated, or political, than it has to be. Just ask her that simple question. I've never heard any one of these no-maskers, asked this basic simple logical question. And be made to answer it.

to operate on them in street clothes, with no mask or surgical gloves - like in the old days before the acceptance of germ theory, when people routinely died of septicemia following surgery.

30. Yeah. I think the vast majority of Republicans would agree
Fri Nov 13, 2020, 05:37 PM
Nov 2020

There may be some that don't believe in germs at all. But I think that is a tiny minority.

I mean most have direct proof growing up. If someone close to them, family or a friend, has a bad cold, and then they get the same strain of virus, they would have no hesitation in deducting that they got their cold from their family/friend. And that it could have been simply through the air. And yes, add to that your surgery example.

I just have never heard any of them, especially those in leadership positions, asked this simple question before, framed that way.
