Fauci Suggests 'It Would Be Better' to Begin Working With Biden Team, Says Trump Hasn't Attended

Source: Newsweek/Newsbreak

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said coronavirus pandemic issues would be much easier to deal with if current federal government employees like himself were able to communicate with President-elect Joe Biden's transition team.

Fauci told CNN's Jake Tapper Sunday that an easing of the tense transition between President Donald Trump's administration and Biden's "would be better if we could start working with them" immediately.

"Just as a public health measure, you think it would be a good idea if your team would be able to work with the Biden-Harris transition team right now just in terms of what's best for the public health of the American people?" Tapper asked Fauci on CNN's State of the Union.

"Of course, Jake, that's obvious, of course, it would be better if we could start working with them," Fauci replied, also noting Trump has not attended a coronavirus task force meeting in months. He highlighted how he's been through numerous transitions of power given he's served under six different presidents as an infectious disease expert.

When Vice President Mike Pence first took charge of the White House’s coronavirus task force, among his earliest moves was establishing a standing call with all 50 governors aimed at closely coordinating the nation’s pandemic fight.

Yet as the U.S. confronts its biggest Covid-19 surge to date, Pence hasn’t attended one of those meetings in over a month.

Fauci is telling the truth and the truth means he's no longer useful to Trump. Trump will fire him....and Trump gets another news cycle! Meanwhile, Fauci immediately signs on tp the Biden Transition team and will eventually reoccupy his position as the nation's #1 source for fighting the pandemic at CDC.

He is civil service. That is why he is still there despite all the arm-flailing and foot-stomping temper-tantrums from the WH.

I thought Trump could request a resignation. But that's not the case. So, instead, I bet Trump starts using Twitter to demonize Fauci, hoping to destroy his credibility.. Fauci best have a thick skin. It will get ugly.

but Fauci has been in NIH since 1968 (when 45 and his father started keeping black people out of their apartment buildings and ended up getting sued by DOJ for it in the early '70s), and has been Director of NIAID since Raygun's 2nd term in 1984.

Fauci has been well known in this country (and worldwide) for decades. I know my mother was a big fan!!! Whenever he appeared on some panel shown on CSPAN, she busted out her blank VCR tapes to start recording.

Just in case Trump might decide to try to start doing something positive because he is shamed into it. I know that’s not likely, but he would somebody with knowledge and expertise still there.

The republiCON party should be tied to these dim indifferents for many years.

The tRump people have been told to not release government resources to the Biden people. Some people think that it means money and briefing materials but it goes beyond these obvious resources. Biden and his people don't have access to.....
-offices
-gvt e-mail (to set up accounts) I imagine that down the line the GOP will blast them for using non secure private e-mail in a repeat of their "but her e-mails scam"
-reports from agencies
-personel (including people who work for the CDC and NIH)
-translation services (from the State Department)
-transportation
etc
