Feinstein won't seek top Judiciary Committee spot following complaints from progressive
Source: LA Times
WASHINGTON
Sen. Dianne Feinstein will not pursue leadership of the high-profile Senate Judiciary Committee or any other committee next year, taking a dramatic step back following pressure from progressives who questioned her willingness to use tough, partisan politics to confirm Biden administration Supreme Court picks and other judicial nominations.
California is a huge state confronting two existential threats wildfire and drought that are only getting worse with climate change. In the next Congress, I plan to increase my attention on those two crucial issues, Feinstein said in a statement. I also believe that defeating COVID-19, combating climate change and protecting access to healthcare are critical national priorities that require even more concentration.
Feinstein, 87, is currently the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary committee and was in line to become its first female chairman if Democrats take control of the Senate.
But the majority wont be decided until two Senate seats in Georgia go to a runoff in January. Democrats will need to win both of those races to gain control of the Senate and with it, the power to confirm Bidens judicial appointments.

Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders, will NOT be appointed Secretary Treasurer or Labor Secretary any time soon. Nor will AOC or Katie Porter, or any of squad be given influential posts. The leadership have got what they wanted out of them, to appease the left, promise that Biden's not so anti-progressive, help him get elected. Now its back to the back seats, until they need them to get out the youth/liberal voters in 2022.

Personally I think Bernie and Warren should stay in the Senate rather than move to the cabinet as they can do alot more to help people by using their vote in the Senate than they can as a Biden cabinet member.

(21,055 posts)But I want her to stay put until things calm down in California. There is an anti Democrat thing going on because of the COVID lockdown and the repukes are going after Newsom because he went to a dinner and even though it was socially distanced 12 people attended and hes been advocating for 10 or less and the repukes have been pounding him in the school of public opinion.
Idiots were out in Hungtington beach over the weekend protesting his 10 pm curfew. It was all over the news.

with full financial stability that needs to hold onto power. Be it Repukes or Dem it is not good nor healthy for the country.
Good work can be done from anywhere and anyhow.
I Understand certain exceptions like President Biden, he believed that he was the only one that could defeat Donald Trump.
Her seat is solid Democrat with her or without her. Time to go.

So his was not a Power Grab but seeing the Greater Good for the Country.
Losing her in no way loses her seat for the Dems.
