GOP effort to invalidate more than 2.5 million votes in Pennsylvania dealt another setback

Source: WA Post

Republicans faced another procedural setback in a Pennsylvania lawsuit seeking to invalidate more than 2.5 million votes, as a temporary order blocking further certification of election results was stayed on appeal from state officials who had already formalized President-elect Joe Biden’s win the day before.

Legal experts said the case had little chance of success, much like the other last-ditch GOP election lawsuits pending in battleground states. Republicans have gained no substantive traction across more than two dozen cases trying to undo results favoring Biden since Election Day, and as of Tuesday, four of six states where President Trump tried to overturn the outcome have certified Biden’s win.

In the Pennsylvania case, Republican plaintiffs are retroactively challenging the state’s mail-voting system, calling into question virtually every contest that took place there on Nov. 3 and asking for judges to take the unprecedented step of voiding election results across the state.

On Wednesday morning, Commonwealth Court Judge Patricia A. McCullough, who was elected as a Republican in 2009, placed a hold on the certification process for down-ballot races pending an evidentiary hearing. State officials appealed to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court later Wednesday, which triggered an automatic stay of McCullough’s order. They then asked the state high court to step in and dismiss the case altogether.

Only been looking at this for 30 seconds, but I already see, glaringly, they quote Justice Ginsburg's opinion in Bush v. Gore, suggesting it is the law, without noting that her writing was a dissent (not that it would help them anyway). I mean this Trump letter is only 3 pages.

It was filed last week, on appeal from the district court that shredded everything the Trump 'team' had to say.

The case in the OP is a newer one, in PA state court, brought by a PA congressman.

Even though it was passed by the Republican legislature. If there was a problem with it, it should have been addressed before the election. JFC, give it the f* up already.

But there is a good reason to keep the court cases running.

While they run, a lot of Republicans feel there is still hope Donnie gets a second term.

And while they do, they will continue to contribute cash in the hope this happens.

Just free money for the Trump family.

Rudy pretty much gave the game away, when he said he should be paid $20K per day for his work. No pro bono for Rudy, because he just knows the court action is a sham.
It's all about the money. Always has been.

cash to numerous right-wing direct mail scams. My favorite was Judicial Watch, that promised every week that JUST ONE MORE donation of $10 would allow them to put the impeachment of Obama in motion. The ones I really resented were all the fake Wounded Warrior scams. I checked them on non-profit monitoring sites and found that most of them did nothing but take in money.

All seem the most likely subjects for scams. I saw an article recently that most telephone solicitations for assistance to police and firemen in S.C. averaged 2% of the funds actually being spent; the rest goes to salaries and more fund-raising efforts.

On December 1st, the new full PA State House and 1/2 of the PA State Senate are to be seated. So if they keep fucking around with the votes and "down ballot certification", the entire State Assembly will become vacant and void AND powerless!

Keep messing idiots.

Elad is apparently tweaking DU so Tweets are displaying but here is what Lt. Gov. Fetterman noted (basically about both state and fed cases) -

@JohnFetterman
So, this “case” has been continued, instead of this Friday.

LOL.

This means, at the earliest, it could be heard November 30th-which, if the results aren’t certified that day we effectively have no PA House and 1/2 Senate-as their term expires.

Presidential race certified.

Presidential was certified + isn’t impacted.

LOL: Without certification of down ballot races, we DON’T have a PA House + 1/2 Senate ( both controlled by R’s) after November 30th.

Biden is already at 270.

There’s zero evidence to present.

this time as a private citizen, to overturn the results of PA voters' decision in favor of Biden.

Alito gave the Commonwealth until Dec 9th to respond, but the kicker is Dec 9th is one day past the "safe harbor" provision of federal law when election results are considered final that falls on Dec 8th.
