(9,888 posts)After Christmas & New Year another will occur Im afraid.
Ignorant people? Foolish people? I give up myself trying to figure. Plenty of articles though.
Wife & I both getting thru with mild cases ourselves. Were in our 60s. Wife retired me and in 6 days. Scary it is.
Parson refuses to have face mask mandate. All GOP led counties around STL follow his lack of intelligence. Urban hospitals hit with non-urban customers. Sad really.
Idk what to think really. Its truly becoming a protect yourselves situation.
Vaccines are coming! News began those reports about a week ago. Tick tock,,,

(1,373 posts)Im curious about who catches it, and why. Outside the obviously stupid superspreading events, how are the normal, conscientious people getting it?
If I wear my mask, observe social distancing, am I safer than someone who doesnt?

Another friend is posting on fb from different area locations. I decided to snooze her.
Most of my friends are staying home, masking, etc if they go out.

Rural counties were the worst hit here in NM. We're finally starting to see lower transmission rates, so we're the eighth worst hit state instead of the third worst last week.
That seems to be the pattern elsewhere, also.

They don't always do things right, but when they do, they deserve credit.

(1,213 posts)are going the wrong way. Restaurants all over town are opening up, stores are open. Ingles has put its salad bar back up in the grocery store. Fewer and fewer masks. This is a very, very red county...kind of wish I could go back in time and rethink our move here knowing what we know now. I would never move to such a republican county. Bunch of morons. There will never be regulations here, they are all in denial there even is a virus. All we can do is stay home as much as possible until the vaccine is available. It's like living in a zombie apocalypse.

(27,500 posts)There's 2 types of test available here in WV right now: Rapid and PCR. I got the PCR test because it's supposed to be more reliable. The physician assistant told me they had learned our state Department of Health and Human Services is not even recording rapid test results. I don't understand that but I'm sure it makes Governor Justice's numbers look better.

(3,010 posts)My DS will be coming home on military leave next week. He hasn't been tested at all. His military insurance, Tricare, won't pay for the test. Where we live, tests are expensive without insurance. The turnaround time is 4 days and we're not even sure how to time the test to get the most accurate result, that is, how many days after exposure. So, we won't be testing him. Our plan is to wear masks, and socially distance, for the first 10 days at all times, even in the house. We're scared because there are 3 of us who have stayed home since March because of our age and our existing health problems. Now, there may be no way to avoid it. The reality is Trump may still kill 3/5 of our little family before he leaves office.
And no, we won't put him in a hotel where we think he'll be at risk.
Bottom line is, there have to be many who go untested. This is so much bigger than the numbers suggest.
