House conservatives strategize with Trump and Pence in push to challenge Biden's win
Source: CNN
(CNN)Alabama GOP Rep. Mo Brooks and fellow House conservatives met privately on Monday with President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence as the lawmakers prepared to mount a long-shot bid in January to overturn the Electoral College results that made Joe Biden the official winner of the election.
The discussion focused on Trump's baseless claims and conspiracies that the election was stolen from him, participants said, and lawmakers emerged confident that there were would be a contingent of House and Senate Republicans who would join the effort and prompt a marathon debate on the floor on January 6 that would spill into January 7.
Pence's involvement in the meeting is significant because he will preside over the joint session of Congress that would count the electoral votes that day. Brooks said that Pence attended "different parts" of the meeting.
"I believe we have multiple senators and the question is not if but how many," Brooks said, something that would defy the wishes of Senate Republican leaders who are eager to move on and urging senators not to participate since doing so could force them to cast a politically toxic vote against Trump.

The role pence plays is strictly ceremonial, he has no power to change anything. So he can just say no, I wont count the votes and it ends..laughable. Like so many other norms these assholes have broken this is one where if he doesnt want to count votes, Im sure someone else will

(2,252 posts)They believe they have a senator's support?
The f'n election is over...the swing state election officials confirmed the election processes were without fraud or irregularities, the Attorney General of the United States has confirmed the elections were without fraud or irregularities, some 60 lawsuits have been denied or dismissed, the electoral votes have been counted and Joe Biden declared President Elect...
What the hell is there to challenge? A bunch of fools planning challenges based on nothing more than the delusional rantings of another fool...it is beyond, insane.

(4,651 posts)1) Why does Congress have to count the Electoral College votes? Didn't the EC already do that? Isn't that part of why the EC exists?
2) If nothing can be changed in this process, what's the point?
3) Why is there a three week or so gap between the EC tabulation and the approval by Congress?
4) If the founders had the Internet maybe they could have shaved a few days off of this schedule?

(2,252 posts)..procedure for questions 1 & 3. With this particular Presidential declaration, there is no point beyond some self-serving GOP lawmakers trying to keep Trump happy. The time gap might have been a provision to allow for consideration and preparation of a legitimate challenge.

They may even continue with these cases after Jan 20. If not to reverse the election, for the "principle of defending our great democracy!". Just to keep Biden's Presidency suspicious to half the country.
Red Hats loves them some red meat to chew on, don't matter if its "factual" or not. Facts are for p*****s. Its about not giving Democrats and liberals even 5 minutes to breathe and be happy.

Just like there are Republicans who aren't conservatives. And conservatives that aren't Republicans.
There are Democrats who don't regard themselves liberals. And liberals who don't regard themselves as Democrats.
But they are all welcome in my big tent! I'm Canadian. And not a Democrat either. I support Democrats because they are the closest to my own liberal beliefs.
