Google suspends Parler from app store after deadly Capitol violence

Google has pulled Parler, a social media app for conservatives and far-right extremists, from its app store following the company's role in the deadly U.S. Capitol siege this week.

What they're saying: “In order to protect user safety on Google Play, our longstanding policies require that apps displaying user-generated content have moderation policies and enforcement that removes egregious content like posts that incite violence," José Castañeda, a Google spokesperson said. "In light of this ongoing and urgent public safety threat, we are suspending the app’s listings from the Play Store until it addresses these issues.”

Came to Apple since they seemed to be more user-friendly. They are clearly more dumbfuckery friendly. They need to take a stand or lose their reputation forever.

15. Not really. Consumer studies show that Apple products are not used by the vast majority of RW types

because Apple iPhones and the rest are just too expensive. The crowd at the Capitol mostly use Android and other brands, along with PC computer products. But just in case...

Today, Apple informed Parler that the app would be removed from the App Store within 24 hours unless the company submitted an update with a moderation improvement plan. Sounds weak, sure, but then, Apple doesn't need Parler as much as Parler needs Apple.

Apple wrote to Parler's executives:

"We have received numerous complaints regarding objectionable content in your Parler service, accusations that the Parler app was used to plan, coordinate, and facilitate the illegal activities in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021 that led (among other things) to loss of life, numerous injuries, and the destruction of property,” Apple wrote to Parler. “The app also appears to continue to be used to plan and facilitate yet further illegal and dangerous activities.”

Parler won't be able to submit a satisfactory plan that Apple wants, so I predict that Apple boots Parler.
