Cuomo said 'he can destroy me': NY assemblyman alleges governor threatened him over nursing homes

(CNN)New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been pleading with lawmakers for support and even threatening political retribution against Democrats who have criticized him in an aggressive effort to contain political fallout from revelations that his administration had concealed the full extent of nursing home-related deaths during the Covid pandemic.

Describing an alleged exchange with the governor that has not been previously reported, Democratic Assemblyman Ron Kim told CNN that he received a call on his cell phone from the governor last week as he was bathing his children at home.

"Gov. Cuomo called me directly on Thursday to threaten my career if I did not cover up for Melissa [DeRosa] and what she said. He tried to pressure me to issue a statement, and it was a very traumatizing experience," Kim said. Cuomo proceeded to tell the assemblyman that "we're in this business together and we don't cross certain lines and he said I hadn't seen his wrath and that he can destroy me," according to Kim.

Cuomo's adviser denied that the governor threatened to destroy Kim.

Or what went on exactly with the nursing homes, but that republicans want Cuomo impeached, really? Look what your sick fu!k president did that Cuomo had to deal with, lied about the pandemic in every which way possible, sold our ppe to other countries, pitted states against one another for ppe, advocated injecting bleach, never enabled the dpa, etcetcetc. Without Cuomo there woulda been thousands more dead. And he was the voice of reason throughout the insanity we all lived with.

I think this could be some back door way to make him look worse.

It is quite sad that the Cuomo admin held back DATA on the NH situation. Everyone knows that Nursing Homes and Cruise Ships are like petrie dishes for germs. They handled it badly but I still support Cuomo regarding the pandemic because of his ‘take-charge’ and ‘straight talking’ attitude. It kept me grounded.

But, now I can’t be sure what is going on. Is he being a thug? Or is he being set up??

I know the Repugs, still directed by Trump, would love to make Cuomo look so bad that somehow NY would get rid of him and give the GOP the next gubernatorial win?

Nope, ain’t gonna happen. Yes, maybe Cuomo would lose in a primary, but the Dem will win the general I believe.

If this was meant to ruin Cuomo’s chance at a Presidential run in 2024, then it could be an issue.

We shall see.

Cuomo is not a boy scout. And I was really mad at him for years due to his Albany dealings. But he handled himself really well in the last couple years AGAINST Trump and COVID, and FOR the voters.

If not, his statement is meaningless. Someone is lying about what happened. It isn't just repugs who are criticizing him now

since the start of the pandemic, during his rise to "fame". At this point, his best chance at president will start by changing parties.
