An Instacart shopper believed he heard someone loading guns in a bathroom stall. Police arrested a man with 6 guns
(CNN)An Instacart shopper who entered an Atlanta supermarket bathroom this week told police he saw an AR-15 style rifle and heard what he believed was the sound of someone loading guns in a bathroom stall.
The witness rushed out of the bathroom and notified staff at the Publix Supermarket. When police arrived soon after, they arrested a suspect as he was exiting the bathroom -- with six guns in his possession.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Rico Marley, now faces a slew of charges related to the incident, which came just days after 10 people were killed in a mass shooting at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado.
It was that tragedy that was fresh in the mind of the Instacart shopper, Charles Russell, he told CNN affiliate WSB.

I don't want to sound harsh -- it's just that it is an unnuanced response to a big problem. And if it were only a few times, I guess I wouldn't care, but it's a way too common problem around here. I'm guilty too. I think we can do better. (I'm not talking about making a joke -- I'm all for that, but I think there are people who believe that it's that simple). Maybe you just caught me in a moment of fatigue.

(16,168 posts)So clearly I shouldn't have an opinion on gun control.
If he couldnt have bought an "assault rifle"... which in most people's minds means anything to LOOKS like an AR15...
All he would have had is 3 semi-auto pistols, a revolver and a pump shotgun. Which still would have resulted in a tragedy.
We need to stop focusing on the hardware, and concentrate on the software. Get to the root of why disturbed individuals take up arms to harm others in the first place instead of of banning some feature on a firearm, sitting back, putting our feet up and saying... "Well, THAT aughta solve the problem!"
It wont. Ever.

(2,971 posts)An assault rifle is a selective-fire rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine.
An AR-15 is not an assault rilfe, as it is not selective fire. It is an assault weapon in some jurisdictions, however.

(7,828 posts)Do they take it in turns or do they roll 12 sided dice? What is the Facebook or Instagram group they're hanging out at. Does Putin's troll squad have a list of likely candidates or just a set of propaganda programs to run in sequence to push their buttons? Do the Koch, Mercer or NRA organizations have a back room somewhere to process the Cambridge Analytica data on these guys? Does the RAGA group have an underground auxiliary whose job is to track and inspire mass killings?
All speculation aside Donald can't do this alone. Rupert Murdoch's media empire might but they'd need something like the data analysis I suggested above to set the sequence in motion and help continue the trend.
I do not believe this is happening only because a few people on the edge of sanity are losing it. Something is triggering them and I suspect it is meant to do that. Just as the remarks made by RW anti-abortion advocates sent people to attack and murder providers. Just as Trump and his surrogates set up the sequence of expectations which lead to triggering the Jan 6th attack. This is something intended even if the individual locations and antagonists are not.

Its the voter suppression and attack on minorities for the white rule. Gun slaughter is just another one of the news events in two weeks of Georgias glory.
I had no right to vote during Vietnam Era. I had a draft number as did many I knew. Some died, some are messed up physically and mentally. These assholes taking away the vote my generation demanded makes me sick. I served with every ethnicity. We earned the right to vote, with that vote we can put people in office to fight gun slaughtered on our streets. Sick of the GQP constitution, And second amendment screaming. That same document gives me as much right to vote as it does for those assholes to kill me in a store. More so in my mind.

Honestly . . . only in America. And that is NOT a good thing.
