Former Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) filed paperwork on Friday to begin raising money for a potential 2022 Senate bid against incumbent GOP Sen. Marco Rubio.
Grayson was first elected to serve Florida in Congress in 2008, but was defeated for re-election in 2010. But in 2012, he launched a comeback and served two additional terms.
He gave up his seat to run for U.S. Senate in 2016, but was defeated in the Democratic primary by Rep. Patrick Murphy, who went on to lose to Rubio. But six years later, Grayson is considering another comeback.
On Saturday, the Federal Election Commission posted a "statement of candidacy" Grayson filed, which designated the "Committee to Elect Alan Grayson" as the fundraising entity he would use for a potential 2022 Senate bid.

Not much more at link but, there is a funny Twitter post Mr. Grayson posted recently.

(2,839 posts)It will be an interesting and most likely entertaining campaign. He will not go easy on Little Marco.
It will indeed be interesting. He's humorous, smart as they come for FL, and he can convince FL that Rubio's a do-nothing flake. I'll be tuned in to their back-and-forth.

(36,023 posts)and the visual of the mock. It got a lot of media attention and pissed off Republicans before they became a cult. Now that they're a cult, who knows what that guy will call them out for. He'd probably say what we say here.
Grayson called out Republicans for who they were, early and often.

(2,146 posts)As compared to Repub he wants to run against? Can you say mountain vs molehlll?
And no doubt his "issues" will be blasted by the GOP. and the GOP will learn the hard way to not leave themselves open for counter attack by a guy who has a rep of going for the throat.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get big donor backing. The 14 billionaires in Florida work to make sure it stays red.

(36,023 posts)He's got a lot of business cred and policy activism behind him.
Howard Dean and progressives thought he was great on healthcare.
The Democrats couldn't get a better guy to pour money into than this guy in Trump's new carpetbagger turf.
The gloves are off in 2022. We might as well get in the Florida ring.

(34,136 posts)Sure, now he's a Democrat, but he sure kept Jeb's policies in force when he followed Jeb Bush into the Governor's Office. Frankly, it it were Crist versus Rubio, I might not vote in that race.

While I don't see him as a knight in shining armor, he's got to be better than Rubio. Even comatose, he'd be better than Rubio, whose only discernible talent seems to be hating Democrats.
Even Florida Man deserves better.

(6,254 posts)floor speech about the republicans healthcare plan. It was classic Grayson, the republicans plan was simple If you get sick, you die. Looking back we can see a flaw in his theory, it turns out their plan is if you get sick, we will help you die.

(36,023 posts)If Grayson campaigns against Rubio the way he supported Obamacare, he can.
Watch at the 4:00 mark , when he names Republicans who'd have blood on their hands rather than vote for Obamacare.

(3,386 posts)Please, lets stop giving energy to that buffoon, he will be a bad memory very soon, as a matter of fact, he is a bad memory to 8 million people in the USA and the rest of the world.
Lets stop bringing him into our conversations, he needs to disappear.
ancianita
(36,023 posts)Who gives a shit? Probably at least half of the 74 million who voted for him. They are at least 12% of the population. Like or not, it only takes 3% to form a movement, and as we saw, even less to damage a nation's capitol building and threaten lives of those who govern. To not let that assault be continual means giving a shit. Because they're not going anywhere.
Like it or not, he's still on Foxfeed, stirring millions -- this is from DU's front page:
They dont go after those people, but they go after people, I guess you would call them lean toward the right, and they wave American flags, in many cases, they are waving the American flag, and they love our country, Trump said, notably leaving out the violent attacks and more than 100 police officers injured by his supporters. And to those people, they are arresting them by the dozens, but they dont go after Antifa, who kill people, by the way.

As you know, the general gist of the thread is about whether Grayson might be able to talk that FL style, maybe rearrange FL voters' brain cells about this powermongering loser and his cult.
So don't complain to me. I just mentioned him in one line. Instead, take it to the site admins.
Disappear him from all conversations, call him all the names you want, hope he has only the power of a memory, obliterate him from your awareness, but that won't disappear him. His kind of dirty work doesn't want to be called out, so all that just plays into his hands anyway; can't ignore his followers, either, because they fester into militias, insurrections, angry mass shooters -- as stupid and banally evil as OAN and FOX can stir them up to be.
In the long game, you can't ignore the other team and wage all offense and no defense.
