It was a big sum for a 63-year-old battling cancer and living in Kansas City on less than $1,000 per month. But that single contribution federal records show it was his first ever quickly multiplied. Another $500 was withdrawn the next day, then $500 the next week and every week through mid-October, without his knowledge until Mr. Blatts bank account had been depleted and frozen. When his utility and rent payments bounced, he called his brother, Russell, for help.
What the Blatts soon discovered was $3,000 in withdrawals by the Trump campaign in less than 30 days. They called their bank and said they thought they were victims of fraud.
...snip...
But what the Blatts believed was duplicity was actually an intentional scheme to boost revenues by the Trump campaign and the for-profit company that processed its online donations, WinRed. Facing a cash crunch and getting badly outspent by the Democrats, the campaign had begun last September to set up recurring donations by default for online donors, for every week until the election.

(9,998 posts)I hope they struggle to pay for a roof over their heads. They more than deserve it.
Before it's done, I'm sure they'll figure a way to blame Biden for their troubles.

(1,324 posts)and put a set amount on them and if you don't refill them, there are no funds, period. I do that for assorted things that I do NOT want to be ongoing, but never for such high amounts.

(36,776 posts)Good alternative! Thanks.
I read somewhere that some television sales offers do not accept those type credit cards because they do not allow later, automatic cash flow.
Many 'special offers' on tv have an automatic renewal feature.
My gf ordered some super duper pain med, at a seemingly reasonable price, but then it became a monthly renewal at a significantly higher price.

(9,998 posts)He was probably hoping to work his IDIOT base into a frenzy, so he could declare martial law after things went south at the Capitol. Thankfully that didn't work out, and the Rioters did not succeed with what they truly intended. Hostage taking and Murder of Capitol members and Mike Pence.

(36,260 posts)Now THERE is a sentence that needs work. Replace "But" with "In fact", insert "correctly" before "believed", and replace "actually" with "indeed".
"IN FACT, what the Blatts CORRECTLY believed was duplicity was INDEED an intentional scheme ..."
Editor must have been napping.
