"I do not like spending my free time asking adults to make good choices."

Ten-year-old Kai Shappley testified in front of the Texas Senate State Affairs Committee on Monday and schooled the legislators on how to be better adults. Shappley spoke against a proposed law that would brand her mother as a child abuser for supporting her daughter.
..................
Shappley sharply rebuked state Sen. Charles Perry (R) who tried to cloak his bigotry in religious beliefs.
God created us all in his own image, he told the committee. We went outside that creation by our own accord and suffer with some of the consequences of being outside his will since the garden. This is another one of those issues that we find ourselves entangled in that unfortunately, the damage is to our most precious, precious being our children, not our personal lineage, but all of Gods children and the children in this state.
God made me. God loves me for who I am, and God does not make mistakes, Shappley responded.

So if we all started out as dark skinned from living outside in the sunshine... then black and brown are original and whites are just albinos. Probably due to ice age and/or migration to colder climates.
I'm white and I'm OK with that.
Mostly because I like to see racists with their Bible rants get all sputtery and do spit takes.
I am Christian too, but I don't believe in beating anyone up with the Bible, least of all children.
Jesus really made a strong point about how WRONG it is to hurt children.

But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

God made me. God loves me for who I am, and God does not make mistakes, she said. Let those with ears, let them hear.

(9,979 posts)According to Pew Research, 25.4% (2014) of people are evangelicals, down from 26.3% in 2007. Of that number, 76% are white. The share of nonwhite evangelicals that has been growing are Asians, black, Hispanic, and mixed race.
Heres an interesting statistic from Pew about evangelicals. Roughly one-in-five evangelical Protestants (21%) are college graduates, while 35% have some college education (but not a four-year degree), and 43% have a high school education or less. Among those in the overall public, 27% are college graduates, 32% have some college experience, and 41% have a high school diploma or less education.
That theyre less educated than the general population is no surprise. Roughly 16-17% of the population (the white evangelicals) has a huge influence on our laws and government, and that will change over the next decade because many of these people are older and their children are not necessarily following in their extremist religious footstepsa very good thing.
