Scoop: Caitlyn Jenner makes it official for California governor
Source: Axios
The big picture: Jenner, a longtime Republican, is seeking to replace Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom in a recall election, hoping her celebrity status and name recognition can yield an upset in the nation's most populous state.
But in deep-blue California, she's decidedly not branding herself as a Trump Republican even as she's counting on some of the former president's advisers to drive her strategy.
She's assembled a team of prominent GOP operatives including Tony Fabrizio, the top pollster on Donald Trump's 2016 and 2020 campaigns, Ryan Erwin, founder of RedRock Strategies, and Tyler Deaton, president of Allegiance Strategies.

How do conservatives balance opposition to trans-rights with support for a Trumpist candidate?

She will not be elected.

(25,911 posts)Even Trump had thuggish charisma, but Caitlyn Jenner has never had charisma, even after her Olympic wins and all the press. A very bland personality. Arnie is bigger than life, and Reagan had that folksy geegoshwillikers thing down pat.

Hardly honorable. He thought it would revive his film career. Thankfully it did not. It took Jerry Brown 8 years to clean up the mess arnold created.

Killed people in a car crash that was not prosecuted but settled in civil court (could be a perfect Iowa politician -- Branstadt and son as a model)

That fatal car crash that sure looked like it was 100% her fault is going to come back to haunt her though.

(6,965 posts)Caitlyn Jenner can go walk off a short pier. We don't need her as a celebrity HACK governor here in California. I honestly don't follow the Kardashians, but have heard enough about them to know that they seem to be dysfunctional, void of any real morals or ethics and as my niece says, they seem completely worthless as human beings. We've lived through that filthy, a moral, racist, treasonous, lying grifting tRump family, and I sure as hell don't want to see that Jenner-Kardashian "MESS" anywhere near any levels of power.
