Arkansas Legislature Passes Bill That Bans Federal Gun Laws Violating Right to Bear Arms

Source: Newsweek

The Arkansas legislature has passed a bill that aims to ban federal gun restrictions in the state that violate the right to bear arms.

The legislation declares federal gun restrictions that violate the Second Amendment, enacted on or after January 1, 2021, invalid in the state. According to the Associated Press, the bill was approved in the Arkansas Senate and was voted 79-20 along party lines in the House.

The bill will now head to Republican Governor Asa Hutchinson's desk, and he is expected to sign it.

Prior to the bill being approved in the Arkansas Senate, one of the bill's sponsors GOP Senator Missy Irvin said, "We are a country based on freedom and when our freedoms are threatened we must take action through the tools within our U.S. Constitution and our Arkansas constitution to protect those freedoms."

They can choose not to enforce it, but the law stands and is valid. It can be enforced by federal law enforcement.

There seemed to be no concerns other than bible thumping and gun humping.

There has been a lot of such for years but this year other than gun humping, bible thumping, and beating up on transgender kids nothing much has been accomplished, in the longest session in decades.

AR ranks high in poverty and low in education. But the legislature likes their poor, uneducated population because the continue to elect them.

There was a town in AR offering people who have remote jobs $10k to relocate to their town. It looked like a beautiful place. But why would I--or others like me--want to move to a state where it is so dangerous that people must ignore federal gun laws to ensure their own protection?
