MINNEAPOLIS A Brainerd man who pleaded guilty to helping set fire to a Minneapolis police station during protests over the death of George Floyd was sentenced Wednesday to four years in federal prison.

Dylan Shakespeare Robinson, 23, was also ordered to serve two years of supervised release and pay back $12 million for damages that resulted from the May 2020 precinct fire. Robinson pleaded guilty in December to one count of conspiracy to commit arson.

A federal complaint accuses Robinson of lighting a Molotov cocktail that another person threw toward the Third Precinct headquarters. In addition, Robinson and others allegedly tore down a fence that surrounded the building.

Three other people have pleaded guilty in federal court for their roles in the precinct fire and are awaiting sentencing.

When he was arrested, Wolfe was wearing body armor and a police-issued duty belt and carrying a baton, according to the criminal complaint.A member of the Boogaloo Bois, a right-wing group intent on capitalizing on chaos and starting the next American civil war, has also been charged with assisting in the damage to the precinct that night. Ivan Harrison Hunter, a 26-year-old from Boerne, Texas, is accused of shooting 13 rounds from an AK-47-style rifle into the precinct while people were inside the building.

This article should be smashed into kicker carlton's stupid face ... here's your burning and looting, asshole

21. As expected, right-wing provocateurs were the ones doing the violence and arson.

Thanks for sharing the crucial details!

3. Don't see much about those that were arrested...

thanks.

As part of their investigation, federal agents studied videos posted on social media and from nearby city-owned surveillance cameras to try to identify others who helped burn the building.Co-conspirators Bryce Michael Williams, 27, Davon De-Andre Turner, 25, and Branden Michael Wolfe, 23, also pleaded guilty under plea agreements to one count each of conspiracy to commit arson for their individual roles in igniting the precinct fire. They have yet to be sentenced.

Hennepin County prosecutors separately charged Wolfe with theft of government property after authorities reportedly raided his St. Paul apartment and found a stash of items apparently taken from the precinct, including a riot helmet with an MPD logo on the front, MPD "junior officer" badge stickers, a police radio, 9mm pistol magazine and a Narcan kit.

Hunter bragged on Facebook that "I helped the community burn down that police station" and "I didn't' [sic] protest peacefully," according to the charges. The burning of the Third Precinct has become one of the most prominent visual symbols of the protests and riots that erupted in response to former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pinning Floyd, an unarmed Black man, to the ground while Floyd and onlookers begged for his life. Chauvin was convicted of murder and manslaughter in Floyd's death earlier this month.

4. Sure not a member of BLM or ANTIFA (if ANTIFA real)

"A member of the Boogaloo Bois, a right-wing group intent on capitalizing on chaos and starting the
next American civil war ..."

Guess he will not be getting his crystal meth and vodka breakfast in prison.

8. Wow. Let's think about our justice system for a minute...

Some 23 year old kid, barely out of adolescence, pleads guilty to helping set fire to a police station.

Four years followed by two years of supervised release. OK. What he did was serious. We don't need 23-year-olds out there lobbing Molotov cocktails at police stations.

But the court telling him he has to PAY BACK $12 million??????????????

Here's the problem - after we quit shaking our heads in disbelief - This 23 year old kid will have his wages garnished FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE. I mean, were I him, I'd be saying, "Fuck you!" and would disappear after my sentence was done. Because the punishment DOES NOT FIT THE CRIME. It is excessive and its very impossibility makes it cruel and unusual.

- Felons aren't eligible for federal financial aid to actually get education and better themselves, so
- this kid will be condemned to work in low wage, low skill jobs, and
- will get his wages garnished FOREVER.

So, basically, in this kick-em-while-they-are-down capitalist utopia, we seem to want to punish people for the rest of their lives. Forget about being square with the House when released from your sentence.

This is the CLASSIC definition of economic violence - restricting access to financial resources, education and the labor market.

Like I say - FU and disappear...

9. Very thoughtful post.

The little shit needs to serve time and should have to pay some restitution. But I agree that the 12 million dollar order is excessive. He will essentially be serving a life sentence.

10. He was trying to incite a race war.

He was intending that BLM matter and everyone he hated be blamed for this and murdered by police.

That racist punk is getting off way too light.

He should be in prison for at least 20 years, not 2.

He will continue his violent racism after this slap on the wrist.

12. I'm with you on the stiff prison sentence, but NOT the restitution, which is

economic violence. Sorry, but it is. $12 million is just way beyond the pale of any reasonable restitution for a 23 year old sentenced to anything.

Yeah, he is a dirt bag. I hear you. And yes, a punk. And racist.

But by reducing his jail time in favor of this HUGE, PONDEROUS, LIFETIME PUNISHING amount for restitution is asinine. It is economic violence.

He committed false-flag terrorism. He tried to sabotage a justice movement by committing violence. We have to make an example of what happens to domestic terrorists.

11. Let's not forget that one of the perps shouted "Justice for Floyd!" at the time

So this was supposed to be a false-flag op, to be blamed on BLM or Antifa. This is a crime in which anyone claiming either group is dangerous or violent without evidence is complicit.

16. Typical slap on the wrist

These white terrorists are going to get off lightly. That's why we've being dealing with these hate groups for over 100 years. There is no consequences for their behavior. Those who tried to overthrow the government on Jan 6...most are out on bail.

And then give him a book deal and a talk show.

Please spare me your tears for terrorists.

He is going to come out of prison before 30 and be groomed by the white nationalists in prison.

24. No "tears". Arson rarely gets you 4 yrs & 12M is a pop. We'll see if he gets a fundraiser.

And when someone DOES set one up, lets see how much he raises for burning down a police station. Cant claim to "back the blue" when you're backing burning down their house

19. This sentence might be genius?

This type of fine is probably enough to shut down some of these boogaloo types and possibly bankrupt the organisation, depending on who they bring in.

Setting fire to a building does normal carry a heavy penalty, especially when there are people inside it - especially when those people are police and there is a great deal of stored ammunition in there/ On top of this, the fire was started during a time when police would be regarded as vital to keeping law and order. Disabling a police station at the start of a possible riot should carry a hefty penalty.

However, a clever consequence of this sentence is that this kid will be paying for the rest of his life. it will no doubt be relatively tiny amounts, but it will be payable monthly or bi-monthly or perhaps even weekly. Whatever the payment schedule is, he will have to remain in contact with the court for the rest of his life. The court will know whether he is holding down a job or going off the rails. This point of contact is probably as much as a probation officer would have.

In essence the kid will be paying for his own probation, rather than the taxpayer paying for it. And - as with probation, if he starts going "delinquent" the court have a ready made charge to arrest him and take him off the streets

25. Four years? For tossing a Molotov cocktail?

Essentially, a fire bomb, at police?
FAR too lenient.
