WASHINGTON President Joe Biden blamed the Trump administration for ongoing problems at the U.S.-Mexico border, citing its failure to cooperate and share critical information during the presidential transition period.
In an exclusive interview airing Friday with TODAY show co-anchor Craig Melvin, Biden said his administration inherited one god-awful mess at the border from former President Donald Trump. He said its the result of the failure to have a real transition cooperation from the last administration, like every other administration has done.
After the November election, Biden said that he dispatched his transition team to meet with the officials leading the major departments across the government.
The two departments that didnt give us access to virtually anything were the immigration and the Defense Department, said Biden, who added that his team didnt know until he was sworn into office that Trump had fired many people from those departments and they were understaffed considerably.

(2,031 posts)It drives me nuts. Joe knows what he is doing. He inherited the worst of the worst, and they expect him to snap his fingers and he will solve an issue that has outlasted all who tried.
How long before he gets blamed for the Middle East.

As always, it's up to a Democratic administration to fix.

(2,031 posts)I can't view immigrants seeking a better life as a crisis. I see it as an opportunity for a more perfect union. We need to embrace them, not label their efforts a crisis for news ratings.

Normally, American citizens get pulled into secondary (I have four times) for refusing to answer questions like "where do you live" and "where are you going?" and "what did you do in Mexico."
At the border, I will only answer two questions: My citizenship which my passport proves, and if I am bringing anything back.
When they ask what I did, I say "stuff."
When they where I live, I point and say "that way."
When they ask again, I say "in a cardboard box under the 22nd street bridge."
When they ask where I am going, I simply say "home."
When they ask where home is, I point again and say "that way."
There is no oversight with CBP at the border. They can do whatever they want to whomever they want and will ban cameras because they don't want their abuses documented.
