Stefanik voted into House GOP leadership, replacing Cheney
Source: Washington Post
House Republicans chose Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) on Friday to fill the leadership post recently occupied by Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), according to GOP aides, replacing a harsh critic of former president Donald Trump with a lawmaker who has become one of his staunchest defenders.
The Friday morning vote capped a tumultuous week for the party, which has established support for Trumps false claims about the 2020 presidential election as a defining issue, and those who challenge his falsehoods have found themselves exiled.
Stefanik moved quickly to lock down support for the No. 3 spot in House GOP leadership when it became clear last week that Cheney would lose the job because she continued to challenge Trumps unfounded assertion that the election was stolen and blame him for inciting the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. She was formally ousted on Wednesday.
Stefanik pitched herself as a unifying candidate who will focus on pushing the House Republican message and focus on attacking the Biden administrations policies, while standing by Trumps election claims. I know firsthand the discipline and message it takes to fight back against the biased national media and the entire Democrat and Far-Left infrastructure, Stefanik said Wednesday in a letter to colleagues officially announcing her candidacy.

Intelligence? Spare me. I am not in her district (my "rep" is even worse here in Up-State NY, if you can imagine that). but...

And she'll get it. Trump won't run with Pence next time; he'll pick a woman just like Stefanik (if he doesn't pick Don Jr. or Ivanka).

(2,383 posts)But I would postulate that anyone with any maturely developed intelligence,(and there are different kinds of intelligence, of course),would not hold the views she does, or pretend to hold them or behave in such an inhumane manner... which pretty much greatly expands on the usually accepted meaning of intelligence.
BUT, I understand exactly what you mean... In that sense, yes.. she is 'intelligent...'
