Blinken says yet to see evidence on strike on Gaza tower housing AP, Al Jazeera

Source: Times of Israel

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Monday he has asked Israel for any evidence of Hamas operating in a Gaza building housing news bureaus that was destroyed by an Israeli airstrike over the weekend. He said he himself hasn’t seen any yet.

...

The Associated Press’s top editor on Sunday called for an independent investigation into the airstrike, saying the public deserves to know the facts.

Sally Buzbee, AP’s executive editor, said the Israeli government has yet to provide clear evidence supporting its attack, which leveled the 12-story Al Jala tower.

1. Looks like Blinken has taken himself out of commenting on the information he asked for.

He declined to discuss specific intelligence, saying he “will leave it to others to characterize if any information has been shared and our assessment that information.”
But he said, “I have not seen any information provided.”

But it appears the information he requested was received.

Yes, I always ask for something I have already received.

making the request?

“Shortly after the strike we did request additional details regarding the justification for it,” Blinken said Monday.

Do you think, maybe, he made the request on Saturday (shortly after the strike) and waited until Monday to say so publicly?

saying that it did?

Instead, they get sent the so-called "evidence" -- and crickets.

8. Do you really think if the evidence was classified, we would scream it off the top of a mountain?

Or that our ally Israel would want us to divulge it to the whole world?

And if we were to just say Israel was justified without divulging the evidence, wouldn't you be the first to flood DU with a deluge of criticism?

10. We wouldn't be announcing the details. But we'd make clear we'd seen it and we were satisfied

that Israel had a good reason for the attack.

We're not saying that. It must not be true.

No, I wouldn't be criticizing Biden. Where else do you see me "screaming" about Biden keeping classified information classified? Until this attack, when had you seen me even criticizing Israel?

I'm just saying no one should be drawing the conclusion from Blinken's response that Israel gave good evidence to the US. That's extremely naive.

11. As you know, the assessment of information provided by Israel yesterday is ongoing.

I would imagine it takes more than one day to verify its accuracy.

Please be patient with your conclusions. US silence is certainly no evidence for absence of a good reason. Especially not this early in the game.

Oh, and I would never accuse you of "screaming", let alone screaming on any particular subject. The "flooding" comment was a reference to my expectations based on the number and the contents of your posts directed to me. A personal and admittedly subjective observation on my part.

I would like to know why a modern country like Israel needs so much taxpayer money from us, I know most of it gets recycled thru the military industrial complex but still thing it could be better spent in USA or even in central america.
