Virginia Man Used ‘Pole-Like Object’ and Strobe Light to Assault, Disorient Cops During Capitol Siege: Feds

MARISA SARNOFF Jun 24th, 2021, 6:01 pm 17

Geoffrey Sills, who officials say used a pole and a strobe light to assault multiple police officers during the Jan. 6 siege on the U.S. Capitol, has been arrested and is now facing multiple federal criminal charges.

Sills, 30, of Mechanicsville, Va., is charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers or employees; witness tampering; civil disorder; physical violence with a deadly or dangerous weapons; and other offenses, the Justice Department announced Thursday. Sills was arrested on June 18.

According to court documents, the announcement says, Sills was seen on camera “repeatedly assaulting multiple law enforcement officers.” Federal officials say Sills threw “multiple objects, including pole-like objects, at law enforcement officers” who were trying to keep the crowd of Donald Trump supporters from advancing on the capitol building.

Sills apparently shared on social media his own footage that he recorded as he entered one of the tunnels under the capitol building. There, he continued his assault on capitol police officers, federal documents say.

Most tourists pack one or two when they go on vacation, right along with the sunscreen and travel size toothpaste.

The world's absolutely worst criminals, documenting their crimes and posting them on social media. They sure do make the FBI's job a lot easier. Of course, the scary part is the idiots don't think they did anything wrong. Who raised these entitled fools?

And is surprised that he's identified and charged. I hope it's a felony so he loses his right to vote and to be armed. In any case, he'll have significant legal expenses...and maybe other consequences. I wouldn't work with a dirtbag like that.

why he didn't get a medal for being a patriotic hero. These people live in a bizarre fantasy world where they are part of some rebel alliance overcoming tyranny and oppression. Of course in reality, they have just been looking for an excuse to be violent.

would be justified in using deadly force. Here, they did not have the overwhelming presence to contain the insurrectionists, by design from the provocateurs and instigators. CP did an honorable job, and in my view achieved optimal outcome from a very bad hand. Undermanned they would have escalated a situation they could not control if they had begun shooting (there was of course one death from gunshot), and the situation could have turned very further against them. Police resisted and sought to deescalate.

…spears and cudgels. I think your standard flagpole set from the hardware store would not stand up to that kind of use.

Murderous bastards.
