FBI agents have seized another cache of guns belonging to an accused Jan. 6 insurrectionist who also a Lego set of the U.S. Capitol, as well as notes about forming a militia.
"In arguing that Robert Morss, of Glenshaw, should continue to be held in custody as a danger and a flight risk, Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa Jackson of the District of Columbia said that agents found three handguns at another address where Mr. Morss had stored some of his belongings when he moved to Pittsburgh from State College, Pa., last year," the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. "Ms. Jackson also said that agents found a tactical vest and other clothing that the FBI said Mr. Morss is seen wearing during the insurrection. In addition, a review of his phone showed numerous texts from before and after Jan. 6 in which she said he talked about what supplies to bring to the Capitol and later discussed fleeing after the FBI began arresting people."
When they arrested him last month, agents found three guns at Morss' home, bringing the total to six. In the text messages, Morss reportedly wrote that he was "considering leaving the country" and needed "to get out of town" because authorities "are crushing everyone."
Nevertheless, Morss' attorneys and family are seeking his pre-trial release, portraying him as "a man dedicated to his country who loved being a teacher and suggested he is not a threat to anyone or a risk to run from the law," the Post-Gazette reports.

WASHINGTON D.C. (WTAJ) A western Pennsylvania man was taken into custody Friday morning for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot in Washington D.C. according to a release from Unites States District Court.
Robert Morss of Glenshaw, Pa. was arrested by FBI-Pittsburgh on federal charges relating to criminal acts after investigators were able to identify him from various photos and videos taken during the riot. According to the release, agents spoke with multiple witnesses who knew Morss and were able to identify him from the pictures. One tipster reportedly told agents that Morss may have some mental health issues stemming from his military service.
During the investigation, agents say they found that Morss had purchased gas at a station in Falls Church, Va. the day after the events transpired at the Capitol.

(14,558 posts)He is an effing TRAITOR. They need to deny pre-trial release, try him, convict him, and sentence him to a nice long stretch in federal prison.

(151 posts)Calling Janurary 6th an insurrection is the right call. It was a riot, a disturbance and an attempt to stop Congress from doing its Constitutional duty. So the correct terminology is insurrection and is the correct title for this event. The punishment for these insurrectionists should be to sit in jail while awaiting a trial. If not punished, they will try again and again to over throw our duly elected government.

(47,260 posts)I'd missed the part about him being a teacher. That's really disturbing.

(64,852 posts)He's a substitute.
Since I retired, I've subbed a couple hundred times, and that doesn't make me a teacher.
Also, he got his license, and authorization to sub in one county in early to mid December.
Since the holiday vacation started as of Saturday the 19th, he had at most one week to sub before Jan 6.
This media fascination with calling him a teacher is very misplaced.
BTW: I'm available as a sub, especially in the cold months, because I'm retired.
I'd say his being a sub was a function of not holding down a full time job.
He is, however, a college grad, so he's fully qualified as a sub, including long term assignment.

Ex-military? Teacher? Like a "real" school teacher?
There's a trend here folks. Those who signed up to be a hero in a merciless economy, the one that has no manufacturing base, deployed to Iraq or one of the "stans" because "to get a good job, join the army". They did their tour and returned with a CONFUSED center of personal gravity and no prospects for the financial gratification they were promised by their recruiter. Now these same disappointed, half-throttle, short attention span people, heretofore pretending to be a useful part of society, have given up the pretense. They have officially become part of the great unwashed, the incubator of revolution. Except it's the dumb-assed (would you like fries with that?) revolution and at this juncture they just "didn't really mean it". I mean who would have thought there would be consequences for acting out, rejecting the discipline of capitalism and other efforts toward responsibility? Nobody told them they would be required to amass a minimum pile of assets while working a looong time (basically their whole lives) in order to live into an old age with food security, shelter security amid some reasonable hope of dying with a minimum of agony. That's NOT what's done with American (Thank you for your service) Heroes, right? Hey, what about PTSD and stuff? There's a pass for that, right?
Now, get out of the way until you grow up and meanwhile vote Democratic. It's hard and takes a while but it's better than prison.
And if you're a steadily employed veteran who deals with your experiences of war trauma without ruining the neighborhood, doing donuts in my lawn with the custom off-road pickup you can't afford, this is not about you. More power to you. But you know who I'm talking about.
