Couple Charged Over Gender Reveal Party That Allegedly Started California Wildfire

A couple has been charged with starting a California wildfire that killed a firefighter. Refugio Manuel Jimenez Jr. and Angela Renee Jimenez were indicted Monday, according to San Bernardino District Attorney Jason Anderson in a press conference.

The conflagration, which authorities call the El Dorado Fire, started in the park of the same name on September 5, 2020, near Yucaipa, California, according to officials. It burned 22,680 acres, and killed Charlie Edward Morton, who worked with the San Bernardino National Forest for 14 years. Five homes and 15 structures were destroyed; four residences were damaged. The wildfire also resulted in 13 injuries. Two firefighters were hurt, Anderson said.

Refugio and Angela Jimenez are charged with one felony count of involuntary manslaughter, three felony counts of recklessly causing a fire with great bodily injury, four counts of recklessly causing a fire to inhabited structures, and 22 misdemeanor counts of recklessly causing fire to property of another, Anderson said. They pleaded not guilty to charges, he said. The prosecution requested a $50,000 bail, but the couple was released on their own recognizance

But, an exploding pyrotechnic, not so much.

Over 22,000 acres of natural habitat were destroyed. Animals died or else were driven from their homes. Property was destroyed, perhaps for a generation.

It did come dangerously close enough to where we had to evacuate. It started in San Bernardino and spread all the way to Chino and eventually down to where I live - and to where it started yet another fire that was a by-product of the El Dorado Fire. I do have a crazy picture of the hills by my street being lit up though!

It's just another avenue for attention whores. Why would anyone give a shit one way or the other if someone else is having a boy or a girl? 23. Gender reveal parties?!

There was a recent story in NE Pennsylvania where a local fellow and his brother were planning a big fireworks display to announce the gender of the first guy and his wife's soon-to-be-born baby boy. As they were setting up their display, it exploded, killing the father-to-be and seriously injuring his brother.

So the unborn baby gets to grow up without a father and the mother gets to raise the kid on her own. Local residents set up a Go-Fund-Me account that raised about $200K.

24. My nephew and his wife had a gender reveal party

With food, some sparkling water and soda, bocce, and a delicious cake the mom-to-be made that had colored M&Ms in the middle that was the gender reveal. I will be a great-aunt to a niece very soon!

I thanked my nephew for not having any secret explosives and killing anyone when he cut the cake.
