A family in Georgia is mourning after a 5-year-old boy -- described as someone who had "nothing but pure love" -- died just days after being diagnosed with Covid-19.
Wyatt Gibson suffered a stroke and died on July 16 in a Chattanooga, Tennessee, hospital where he'd been intubated because he was having trouble breathing and his oxygen levels were low, his godmother Amanda Summey told CNN.
He was a healthy child, and his parents thought he had just had mild food poisoning or a stomach bug when first got sick, according to a statement written by the family.
The family said they noticed that Wyatt's tongue was white on July 12, and rushed him to their local emergency room where he was diagnosed with strep, staph and Covid-19.

(8,806 posts)I am truly regretting that Florida and Texas figured out that un-vaccinated Republicans were almost exclusively the ones being hit with the Death Penalty for not getting vaccinated...................
We had a similar situation with friends kids, one ten and one fifteen. Each has left us with a huge hole, and their parents have been totally destroyed.

the influenza vaccine. I do that every year and it does help some against covid too.

Losing kids is VERY painful, and happened a LOT til fairly recently in human history (and still does in some places).
Plus, we're the product of 100's of millions of years of evolution among our animal ancestors, all of whom had a desire to LIVE. If they didn't have that we all wouldn't be here. Only logical and natural that once a creature evolved here that is capable of understanding death, and hence coming up with a 'mechanism' to avoid it being 'final' ... we would do so, and it would prove quite popular.

(19,558 posts)This is in Marjorie Taylor Greenes district.
She was asked:
"Do you feel any responsibility for keeping people in Georgia safe? You know, there are children, skinny people who have died of the coronavirus."
Her actual response was to laugh. This was after this little man had died. In her district.

If at all possible, I try to avoid thinking about and/or forget them, very, very, quickly, because they aren't worth wasting time on, usually. I had pushed aside the ones you mentioned, as they are, for the most part, out of the way, now...fortunately.
