'Sellout': Ron DeSantis Accused of Taking 'Bribe' by Conservatives After Promoting Vaccine

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' recent push of the coronavirus vaccine has provoked Republican ire, with some even accusing the GOP governor of taking bribes. Their pushback indicates the difficulties facing conservative leaders who have pivoted their messaging after months of vaccine disinformation by right-wing outlets.

"If you are vaccinated, fully vaccinated, the chances of you getting seriously ill or dying from COVID is effectively zero," DeSantis added.

His remarks came as Florida topped the nation in new COVID-19 cases, with hospitalizations in some areas climbing to its highest rate since the pandemic started last year. The state recorded 67,413 new cases of COVID-19 over the past week, which accounts for 20 percent of total infections across the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

But negative reactions to DeSantis' vaccine push among vaccine-resistant individuals and new polling data suggests that it could be too late to change the minds of those who refuse to get the shot. Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn accused DeSantis of "trying to be politically correct" in his promotion of the vaccine. "That's a dangerous place to be for people in this country who do have influence," Flynn said.

How many times do we see Republicans gas light the American people by promoting conspiracies and vaccine disinformation, but when they get burned, they try to walk back their statements, which just makes everyone confused.

3. "Circular firing squad"

Theyíve empowered every idiot in their base and they all donít care whoís behind their target.

For Democrats, just donít get in their way. Iím hoping 45ii will jump on DeSantis in a craven political move. Iíd spend money on PayPerView to watch that battle of the small-minded.

4. It's like a Sci-Fi film. They have lost control of the base the catered to.

Trump destroys everything he touches. Including the republicans party.

20-35% of them believe all or a big part of the Q stuff. But a ton of them donít. They are heading to a split.

The Q People will never relent and will never vote for someone not totally on their page. But a good many of republicans will not go there. And their majority in many states, even with gerrymandering and vote suppression is still tenuous.

That hit home for me this last week. I went to a family reunion in Arkansas. Everyone there who could get vaccinated was. The 2 older ones who can not for medical reasons had special tables in the yard where they could visit with family members from 8-10 feet away. Even though all but them were vaccinated.

And most there are republicans. Maybe 30% of us were democrats but politics never came up. Weíve been a close family for 50 years.

And the few family members who are not vaccinated were not invited. There was real anger that their part of the country is having an explosion in Covid cases when it could be prevented.

And the 30% democrats? Me at 55 and one of my cousins who is sixty. And 80% under 40 years old.

Republicans are fucked. They should and might do well in 22. But Iím feeling more optimistic now than I was. Old folks in the south hate anything Democratic. Younger folks are more flexible. The are not as religious nor as hateful.

6. "Deplorables"

When the email lady said there was a rotten segment of the Republican Party, they responded by saying they are all ďdeplorableĒ and proud of the label.

They gave control of their party to a radical fringe and now that radical fringe runs the whole party.

7. Spot on.

But I saw last week that all are not all republicans are on board.

If our party plays our card right we might do well, defying history that the party in control loses in the midterm.

Biden is popular and we just had an artificial recession caused by Covid. So the trash in the economy has been wiped out. The stresses on the economy are destroyed. The economy should be booming in 2022. With higher wages.

Unless the Federal Bank raises rate as in the early 80ís we should be cruising.

They economic republicans will vote Democratic if they see it helping them.

9. This is why they likely won't win a national election....

In order to keep the base they have to be 100% extremists....but that turns away the suburban vote in PA, MI, WI. Those 3 states can keep the legislature from enacting election overturning laws thanks to Dem governors, which pretty much crushes their plans for 2024.

Hold the Hillary states along with PA, MI, WI in 2024.
