Former Sen. Barbara Boxer attacked in California
Source: The Hill
Former Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) was attacked in Oakland, Calif., on Monday but not seriously injured, according to a statement on her official Twitter account.
Boxer, 80, was allegedly pushed in the back by an assailant who stole her cellphone before jumping into a waiting car, according to her statement.
The Oakland Police Department told The Hill that a victim was walking in the 300 block of 3rd Street at 1:15 p.m. when they were "approached by a suspect" who "forcefully took loss from the victim, and fled in a nearby waiting vehicle."
The department, which did not identify the victim, said the incident is being investigated by the Oakland Police Department's robbery section.

(12,516 posts)She's been out of office for years, what super secret info would be gleaned from an 80 yr old former Senator's phone?
Random crime on an easy target by a useless POS.

Any personal gossip would no longer be an issue, she is not running for office again.

(12,212 posts)Someone had turned off my phone.
So I immediately set it up to be erased when it turned back on.
They turned it back on (I actually got a message that they were trying to guess the lock code), and after it was turned on, it was erased.
Whew.

If it WAS though, let's just say it's going to be very interesting.

She lived almost another 20 years, and hopefully the prick that tried to rob her (he didn't get away with her handbag!) got the crap beaten out of him in prison and, in a perfect world, didn't survive.
But I'm sure she lived longer than him!

(33,279 posts)it's defending the Justice System which convicted him and issued punishment it deemed sufficient.
being murdered or assaulted in prison was not part of the sentence. dispensing "rough justice" in the form of prison assault, rape or murder is not the job of the other prisoners.
can you understand that distinction?

(33,279 posts)It's not an excuse. I didn't ask you to feel empathy.
It's just the likely explanation, rather than some Proud Boy or GOP operation. Young men who rob and assault the elderly are usually from disadvantaged backgrounds.
