Fauci asks people to 'put aside' concerns of personal liberty and recognize 'common enemy' of COVID-19

..........................

"You have to get the overwhelming proportion of people vaccinated, but you also have to do mitigation, and that gets to the controversial issue of mask wearing, and the mandating of things. Mandating vaccines, for example, for teachers and ... personnel in the school," Fauci said while appearing on CBS's "Face the Nation."

.............................
"It's the unvaccinated that are doing that, so we have a lot of tasks. We've got to do mitigation. Put aside all of these issues of concern about liberties and personal liberties and realize we have a common enemy and that common enemy is the virus," Fauci said. "And we really have to go together to get on top of this. Otherwise, we're going to continue to suffer as we're seeing right now."

Cordes also asked Fauci if individuals eligible for a third booster shot of a COVID-19 vaccine should get a Moderna shot, regardless of their initials doses, noting a recent a study that found Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine is more effect than Pfizer's at stopping the delta variant.

Fauci, however, disagreed with that suggestion.

"First of all, it's a preprint study, It hasn't been fully peer-reviewed and I don't doubt what they're seeing, but there are a lot of confounding variables," he said..................................

only one at CVS...I had an appointment but walk-ins were welcome...the only question the pharmacist asked was how I reacted to the first two vaccines...then told me stay masked..he said break-through covid symptoms are anything but flu-like...more severe...an unmasked idiot waiting for a prescription let the pharmacist know he would rather die from covid than wear a mask...here's hoping he gets his wish sooner than later...

When we comply with the social norm of wearing pants in public. Masking, distancing, and vaccinating are pretty much the same thing.

Which is as it should be. We are social creatures, after all, but we don't need to die needlessly because of it.

if opting out is a thing then I want to opt out of: driving the speed limit, paying taxes, obeying non-smoking ordinances because: freedom/god/liberty/American flag, apple pie..whatever

10. Not a fan of framing it as liberty vs. taking precautions to stop spread of the virus

To me, that's like saying "we need to put aside our person liberties and recognize that murder (or any other widely accepted harmful act) is our common enemy"

But on the other hand they would do that anyway, and it doesn't really matter.

you know, "freedoms"?

The thing is, for a brief period of time people were willing to set aside their individual desires in pursuit of defeating two common enemies. The day after Pearl Harbor both my father and my uncle signed up, along with thousands of other young men and women. God knows what the world would be like if they hadn't.

Can you imagine that happening today? Freedom comes with a price, and these selfish unvaccinated assholes won't even wear masks!

I wonder what the unvaccinated are thinking? Do they think COVID is going to go away "magically," like their Dear Leader claimed? How many children are they willing to sacrifice at the altar of their "rights"? Do they want to listen to their own children gasping for breath, knowing that they were the direct cause of their suffering? Or do they just want to go out and protest vaccine mandates. "It's my choice!" they claim. Well, to paraphrase the knight in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," "They chose poorly."

How long do they want this hell to go on? Do they understand they won't have any rights if they die?

Speaking of WWII, my Dad was a bomber pilot. He was shot down on his second mission over Germany. It had been planned to be a "milk run" to give the new crews experience flying in a combat environment without exposing them to any real threats. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. The right wing of my father's B-24 was blown off, but fortunately he and his crew bailed out safely as the bomber spun to the ground. He was captured by some locals, turned over to the Germans, and spent the remainder of the war as a POW. I am incredibly proud of him, and I can't imagine him and those who served with him whining about their "rights." You did what needed to be done to protect your country and your family. That was what you did.
