MIAMI – COVID-19 has been the number one killer of law enforcement officers in 2020 and 2021 to date, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page, which tracks line-of-duty deaths.

In South Florida alone, five officers were recently lost in just one week.

“It is the most important officer safety issue of our lifetime,” said Miami Police Assistant Chief Armando Aguilar, who is among the leadership pushing for police to get vaccinated.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund says they are witnessing a continued increase in COVID deaths with more and more cases coming in every day. The organization says more officers are lost to COVID in the line of duty than any other cause combined, including gunfire..............................

On NPR the other day that was focused on the police unions helping the anti-vaxxers on the force around the country.

Guess they didn't think this out too well in their quest to own the libs.

I have zero sympathy for all the stats after spring of 2021. Not sure when cops got the option of the vaccine there, but it was certainly before March.

If the union would force the cops to do what is in the public safety model (to serve and protect) then the numbers would be virtually zero for the last 6 months. And they would likely not promote spreading of delta in the community.

The hope is that it is the white supremacist, MAGAts who are dying off. Self imposed police reform -- of course only if the police unions allow them to hire qualified non-racists to replace the idiots who died in the last 6 months.

I do feel badly for the families of the officers who died before the vaccin was available -- they were likely exposed doing their job.

10. I was watching one of those police shows (LivePD, I think) during the height of the pandemic

and very few police would wear a mask.

Scary stuff: Dealing with the public face-to-face, a killer pandemic spreading like wildfire, and they won't wear a mask.
