Bannon told NBC that he wants to see pre-trained teams ready to jump into federal agencies as soon as the next Republican president takes power.
Donald Trumps former White House strategist Steve Bannon on Saturday evoked a dystopian future when he called for shock troops to quickly deconstruct the state as soon as a Republican takes the Oval Office again.
Bannon made the chilling comments in a phone interview on NBC News after it reported that he had met Wednesday with the party faithful to urge them to be prepared to reconfigure the government with a Republican leader.
Bannon, who ran Trumps 2016 campaign, said the former presidents agenda packing the government with loyalists was delayed because he couldnt move quickly enough to fill some 4,000 posts.
Bannon spoke at the Capitol Hill Club Wednesday at the invitation of a new organization called the Association of Republican Presidential Appointees, according to NBC. The group was formed as a resource for future GOP officials to tap into to quickly fill federal jobs..........................................

If youre going to take over the administrative state and deconstruct it, then you have to have shock troops prepared to take it over immediately, Bannon told NBC. I gave em fire and brimstone.

(6,973 posts)I can only speak for myself, but it's SO disheartening to see these GQP/US Taliban racists, and artists of treason, hatred and malfeasance getting away with saying whatever they want to with absolutely NO consequences. And you best believe he's not one bit scared to say all of the insane shit he's saying. They have taken politics to a place where it isn't going to recover, because you're always now going to have people who are unhinged questioning everything when a Dem wins the White House, a US Senate Seat or anything else they may have 'questions' about that they want to steal from Dems because they can't win whatever presidency, US senate seat etc., outright.
Then, I think of African-Americans who are still being murdered by police just "because," and we know what that because is. Yet this thing, along with tRump along with MOST of the GQP/US Taliban Party can say what they want ans when they want to with NO fear of anything happening to them.
White Privilege. Must be nice.
At 60, I can't imagine how it would feel to be able to roam freely about your business--across this country (and even world)--without a care in the world having to not always 'fear' something.

(57,319 posts)He's saying that Republicans should have a list of people they want to install in agencies and departments ready to go as soon after a (supposed) Republican presidential inauguration as possible, preferably the afternoon of January 20, 2025.
Democrats have a similar list, or they should, if they can handle that much organization at one time.
This is not sedition.
Thanks for writing.

(11,682 posts)When Bannon speaks of "deconstructing" to me this is taking apart what is interpreted as a Constitutionally supported Governmental framework. I guess it is all in the interpretations of past actions by Bannon et al and the word deconstructing. I see it as "dismantling a functioning government" so to install a Trumpatorship.

(9,958 posts)He has also called for a new, worldwide version of the Crusades to eliminate Islam, most likely to establish permanent war and further enrich the military industrial complex beyond belief. Its all about the money with people like Bannonand many of the billionaires who own the MIL companies only care about their personal wealth and power, not the country. Theyre fine with sacrificing the lives of our young men and women to their greed.
Unfortunately, I believe Republicans are preparing to do exactly what he is recommending for 2022 and 2024. And the Republican sheep who think wearing a mask and getting vaccinated are more dangerous than anything on Earth will go right along.

Their goal is to take over the next election, even if they have fewer votes. They are planning to "deconstruct" our Democracy. This group (Flynn, etc.) has to be dealt with harshly. Hopefully it can be done through legal channels and soon. Otherwise the alternative is going to be destructive and fatal to all parties.

(6,973 posts)That won't ever happen on the scale it needs to.
I tell you one thing, if Dems don't start thinking some other type of WAY to beat them and get 2 more senate seats to give them a more solid majority we will be eaten alive. The greedy thing from WV and the greedy thingette from AZ. are eating our lunch, Biden's agenda's lunch, and this country's lunch, as a $1.5 TRILLION dollar infrastructure bill won't accomplish SHIT. Not SHIT. It's not nearly enough money.
Yesterday's Woman's Marches across the country were fantastic, and showed that there are a lot of people out there with passion who will fight. But Dems have to get down into the weeds of legislation, and use the law to stop those people, and I use the term people loosely. Unfortunately, we have women-hating Federalists up there who HATE women, and a Stepford woman Judge up there also who hates women TOO. I believe that Pres. Biden will have a few openings to fill, but what if the man from WV doesn't like the person Pres. Biden wants to place on the High Court or says that the person is too liberal for HIS taste? See how horrible this is?
MOST in that GQP/US Taliban Party are treasonous, secessionist, racists, sociopaths and even worse than that. Human life, unless it's their lives or their families lives or people who agree with them and their lives, as nothing else matters to them except the lives of a few of the privileged, rich and white.

(9,958 posts)Texas is consolidating blue districts and expanding red, rural districts with vastly different total numbers per district, thus minimizing minority votes and forcing more Democrats into one district. Manchin and Sinema could have prevented this, but it is most likely too late now. Texas gained two House seats from the 2020 census, so even if a lawsuit eventually forced changes, this new map will likely be used for the 2022 election because the current map does not work for two new seatsthus giving Republicans more seats and most likely the House majority. Other red states are doing the same, so the Biden presidency effectively ends in early January 2023 when the new Congress is sworn in.
We still need to get out the vote, but gerrymandered districts that no longer have to be approved at the federal level after the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act will make it difficult for voters to elect Democrats in this state. Its already hard to get more minorities to vote, and now with gerrymandered districts and new voter restrictions, we may see a decline in voter participation.
It is enormously depressing that Democrats have the power to stop this and refuse to use it! What the hell are we saving the filibuster for when we risk losing power for decades! Republicans will ditch the filibuster the instant they regain power.

And the idea of appointing more Trumpists faster is a recipe for corruption - look at the number of high-level Trump appointees who had to go because of their dishonesty. The criminality of those at the top of Trumpism should be something that can be used to turn away teh base.

(9,670 posts)You'd think the GOP would want to fight back. Instead, it cowers and whimpers. It's ceding authority to its craziest crazies. The Republican party is no more. It has been replaced by a pseudo political party which is essentially neo-fascist. Because it assumed the Republican banner, though, it is treated by the media as the GOP and given appropriate cover. The media's cowardice (and complicity) has allowed this to fester. Misinformation is the norm now. "It's just politics" when it isn't. It's now or never, do or die. No sense of urgency. in retrospect, pundits will question how we let this arise in plain sight. We went high when they went low, but they cut us off at the ankles.

verb: deconstruct; 3rd person present: deconstructs; past tense: deconstructed; past participle: deconstructed; gerund or present participle: deconstructing
analyze (a text or a linguistic or conceptual system) by deconstruction, typically in order to expose its hidden internal assumptions and contradictions and subvert its apparent significance or unity.
"she likes to deconstruct the texts, to uncover what they are not saying"
reduce (something) to its constituent parts in order to reinterpret it.
"do we need to deconstruct all the institutions that we've created in order to improve them?"
Even the second definition seems to imply a metaphorical disassembly -- i.e. an analysis -- not an actual teardown. Bannon seems to think it is meant literally, to disassemble or destroy. He should just say "destroy", since that is actually what he means.
Bannon styles himself an intellectual, but keeps revealing himself to be a pseudo-intellectual who doesn't even understand the language he uses. Which is why he called himself a "church militant", not realizing that he was saying he is a church ...
