Kaiser Permanente suspends 2,200 employees who have not yet gotten the COVID-19 vaccine - less than
Source: MSN
Kaiser Permanente suspended nearly 5,000 employees who have not yet gotten the COVID-19 vaccine. This accounts for about 2% of the healthcare company's 240,000 employees. Anyone who changes their mind has until December 1 to get the vaccine and return to work. The vaccination rate at Kaiser Permanent has jumped 14% since the health care company announced in August that it would be requiring employees to be inoculated against COVID-19. But the California-based company - which previously announced its vaccine mandate would go into effect September 30 - has had to place, as of October 4, just over 2,200 employees on unpaid leave for failing to comply with the requirement, a spokesperson said. It's also interesting that they took the "suspended without pay" route vs. the firing route. I wonder if companies taking that position will be less aggressive about re-filling the positions?

Actually, no I don't and I can't believe there are staff at hospitals that are willing to do that.

3. Seriously!
Their so called “personal choice” can become a death sentence for patients. This is the worst kind of malpractice I can think of.

4. They never say what kind of employees
it could be office jobs or cleaning staff or other positions that should be easier to fill than doctors/nurses.
There are plenty of opportunities out there for vaccinated folks who want new jobs with like-minded coworkers. |

5. Good For Them
If people are too messed up upstairs to just get vaccinated it’s time to play hardball with them.
I will never ever get anti vaccine types.....but they were few and far between before social media and right wing talk. |

Who can get a similar job elsewhere
The office building next door to the Kaiser medical building may pay about the same. |

10. Last December I had a heart attack and went to my local hospital.
This was before vaccines were available, and the first thing they did was give me a quick test to see if I had Covid. Fortunately, I did not, so I was admitted to a regular unit, not a Covid one.
Now that vaccines are available every single hospital employee needs to be vaccinated, as does every other "first responder", cops, EMTs, Fire fighters. No excuses for them. |

11. Shocking. It's not like they weren't warned.
Stupid is as stupid does.
These articles are trying to make this a political thing. It's not. It's plain stupidity on the part of boneheads who refuse to vaccinate—even after they are warned by their employers that it's a necessary part of continuing to work during a pandemic. |

12. Seven weeks to comply?
After they were given more time than the first time?
I got my Pfizer booster Monday. Made the appointment online just 5-days before. So why give people - in HEALTH CARE - so much time to comply? |

And be fully vaccinated by December 1.

They seriously make it as easy as humanly possible for employees to get them.

18. Mandates working very well! (1% is within the phobic/religious/lunatic fringe range.)
Fabulous! Kudos to Kaiser for getting that percentage so low and for their attempts to help employees who've been caught up in this mass derangement.
Those suspended account for less than 1% of the company's 240,000 workers. They have until December 1 to change their mind and get the vaccine.
"We hope none of our employees will choose to leave their jobs rather than be vaccinated, but we won't know with certainty until then. We will continue to work with this group of employees to allay concerns and educate them about the vaccines, their benefits, and risks." ![]() |

19. This is good news
Kaiser is my provider. I am happy that I won't have to ask, etc. That I can go and know that my risk is minimized. |
