US in middle of constitutional crisis: Hillary Clinton on 'The View'

Source: ABC News

The United States is in the midst of a constitutional crisis, former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton said Monday on "The View."

"That gives me absolutely no satisfaction in saying this, because I think we're at a very dangerous, continuing high-level attack on the legitimacy of our government and the election of our president. Obviously, our former president is not only behind it, he incited it, he encouraged it and he continues to do so," Clinton said in reference to the insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Clinton recently said new and often restrictive voting legislation enacted in Republican-led states is "like the frog dropped into the water. It's boiling."

"People are still arguing about stuff that is important, but not as fundamental as whether or not our democracy will be broken and then taken over and minority rule will be what we live under," she added onstage at the Atlantic Festival.

She would have made an outstanding President. and Damn It - she WON the popular vote - the PEOPLE wanted her as President! I'll always remember that day as one of the darkest in my adult life. To see the Presidency handed to a madman in exact opposite of the one-person-one-vote outcome seemed criminal to me. And to look at these insane cult worshipers now stating that the election was stolen from him - it just really boggles the mind. How can such a large number of people be so blind and ignorant to facts?

I'm not getting enough calls and emails from Democrats asking for my help - that is frustrating. They have all three branches right now - for God's sake, USE THE POWER. And begin organizing in every county, city, state. It is time for community organizing.

We are in a race against a force that is evil and well funded, and completely without empathy or ethics. If you are going to fight with pigs, you MUST step in to the mud. It's time for Democrats to get touch and if nothing else - just get out there and find a message of truth and start to blast it out, in unity. Take a lesson from them - they do have one thing they do well, when they have a message, they are coordinated in getting it on every media outlet. This is what got us into this mess. It's time to play their game and we can do it ethically - we just have to Blast The Truth. But it is going to take a coordinated effort on those we elected into power.

The President cannot do it alone.

Madam Speaker has done everything she can to move legislation forward. The Senate has become just one big obstruction for everything we need to protect our democracy.

I love Hillary, and she's right about the fundamental problem, and she predicted much of what happened with Trump.

But in this post-trump year, no one, and not even Hillary's "frog in the water" image, really explains who is behind the minority and media pushing this narrative about the ending of democracy.

I say it's corporate. Are those dark donors behind the minority party transnational? domestic? Look at the transnational campaign donations like AT&T's, Big Fossil's, Big Pharma's.

Media are pumping up the horse race to fearmonger across the political divide. They amplify, gaslight, but never focus on the structures that both OWN them and also pay Republicans to demolish the majority rule of democratic governance.

Is this about how voters will be shut out? or about the players we can see? or about the more stealth dark money corporate takeover of the minority party? I think Sheldon Whitehouse is right. And Sheldon Whitehouse gets little to no airtime.

My hope for a bold Schumer move:
Add to the Manchin voting rights bill a retroactive clause that blocks recent statehouse changes, and popular vote nullification can be stopped in 2022.

move and live in sparsely populated red states to avoid the tyranny of the electoral college. What else can we do to prevent minority rule for the next 30-40 years? I know Demographics suggests that Dems are making gains in some red states but the fact is that republicans control so many more counties than Dems that we may be doomed to minority rule for a long time. Silly suggestion I know but I am sick and tired of a voter from the Dakotas vote counting substantially more than my vote from a heavily populated blue state. All votes are not equal and that’s wrong

Think about how retired democrats could simply rent apartments in rent states and vote there. Not that many people would need to do this either. Maybe 17k in North Dakota? How many would be needed in Wyoming?

I think it is the only way to turn things around.

In fact, what I cannot understand is why this is not being talked about more regularly.

Long enough to register to vote and vote.

If you like it, you stay. If you don’t you try another red state/county.

Maybe form little blue oases in red zones. If enough liberals move in, it could be nice. Especially for those of us who are among the very few liberals in rural red areas

How do you get the idea there is anything fraudulent about moving to an area out of your comfort zone?

property taxes are $18,000 a year but I raised 4 kids here. In fact, our Governor Murphy is getting slammed because he admitted that NJ is a high tax state and maybe not right for everyone. Retirees, who don’t consume municipal services like a young family does are taking their pensions and leaving for N Carolina, Ga. De. Etc.

Mitch didn't bring up the Garland vote. We didn't know what to do. Maybe a twice-impeached president can't run for office again, are they explicitly allowed to run again? That kind of thing.

...the less money the rich and powerful have, the less they can fuck up and destroy our country...
