Miami school says vaccinated students must stay home for 30 days to protect others, citing discredit

Source: Washington Post (No Paywall)

In April, a Miami private school made national headlines for barring teachers who got a coronavirus vaccine from interacting with students. Last week, the school made another startling declaration, but this time to the parents: If you vaccinate your child, they’ll have to stay home for 30 days after each shot.

The email from Centner Academy leadership, first reported by WSVN, repeated misleading and false claims that vaccinated people could pass on so-called harmful effects of the shot and have a “potential impact” on unvaccinated students and staff.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has debunked claims that the coronavirus vaccine can “shed or release any of their components” through the air or skin contact. The coronavirus vaccines do not contain a live virus, so their components can’t be transmitted to others.

David Centner, one of the school’s co-founders, repeated the debunked claims in a statement to The Washington Post, saying the policy is a “precautionary measure” based on “numerous anecdotal cases that have been in circulation.”

They don't give a shit about reality, someone's vaccination status, science, or logic.

They want to act like they are fighting back against the oppressive, liberal subjugation of all the good Republicans.

They don't care about enforcing it. They just care about scoring points with the right team.

Centner Academy is in Miami’s ritzy Design District, and tuition ranges from about $15,000 to nearly $30,000 per year. The school has become a haven for anti-vaccine parents because it does not require any immunizations for enrollment, citing a parent’s “freedom of choice” and falsely claiming there are “unknown risks associated with vaccinations” that could harm children.

I suppose for that area, that is "expensive".

The "school" (in quotes) has only started accepting students in 2019 and supposedly had nearly 300 this past spring -

A private school in Miami, citing false claims, bars vaccinated teachers from contact with students.

(snip)

The Centner Academy opened in 2019 for students in prekindergarten through eighth grade, promoting itself as a “happiness school” focused on children’s mindfulness and emotional intelligence. The school prominently advertises on its website support for “medical freedom from mandated vaccines.”

Ms. Centner founded the school with her husband, David Centner, a technology and electronic highway tolling entrepreneur. Each has donated heavily to the Republican Party and the Trump re-election campaign, while giving much smaller sums to local Democrats.

In February, the Centners welcomed a special guest to speak to students: Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the prominent antivaccine activist. (Mr. Kennedy was suspended from Instagram a few days later for promoting Covid-19 vaccine misinformation.) This month, the school hosted a Zoom talk with Dr. Lawrence Palevsky, a New York pediatrician frequently cited by anti-vaccination activists.

considering what they originally did this past April with respect to being "anti-vax", anyone who had any sense, has already pulled their kids out and the rest who remain knowingly do so in order to join that death cult.

I'm sure there are plenty of non-psychotic "private" schools in the Miami area.

although due to the climate down there, they have more opportunities to be "outside" vs a typical northern U.S. school in winter. Plus it wouldn't surprise me if might even get a measles outbreak there too, assuming the school really does attract the crazy anti-vaxxers who haven't given their children any of the childhood vaccines.

My grandkids were exposed to Covid, and have to stay out of their school 2 weeks, and have to test negative.

Our local VFD Chief died of Covid today. One of my friend's children just tested positive, one of my dear realtives is sick with it. Today people like david centner can go straight to hell.
