Pope: Don't judge the poor, often victims of injustice

Source: AP

By FRANCES D'EMILIO

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis decried societies which rush indifferently past the poor, often judging them instead of helping them, as he celebrated Sunday Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica attended by 2,000 indigent people.

During his homily, Francis also made an made the appeal against what he called “growing indifference” to the poor, who, he said, are often forced into poverty by injustice.

Francis has used his papacy since 2013 to draw attention to those living on society’s margins. The Catholic Church dedicated the day to the world’s poor.

“We are part of a history marked by tribulation, violence, suffering and injustice, ever awaiting a liberation that never seems to arrive,” Francis said. “Those who are most wounded, oppressed and even crushed, are the poor, the weakest links in the chain.”

Probably are willing to donate $ to causes to help the poor, as long as they stay in their own countries and don’t come here for “free stuff”.

It has stuck me how those who what to impose their teachings and beliefs on society are are willing to suppress others rights. They fail to acknowledge that the dependency for their freedom to practice their religion is exactly what they are willing to deny others. This is a democracy with a multitude of beliefs that are allowed to freely exist. If they oppose abortion then don't have one is the extent of the rights.

I and suspect if one is Catholic, one would know that.
I'm not Catholic and I know that.

So I'm sure Catholic Trumpers know it, too.

In fact he was real clear about who would do the judging.
The right wing cult is chanting Let's go Brandon in Christian Churches across the country. So I guess there is no hope they will actually study Christ's teachings. Satan has moved into God's house and is in control of the repuke party.
This chant in Christian churches needs to be front page news across the nation.
What happened to But But But the children. Do they think kids don't know what that means?????

They won't. They will still march lock step with Trump because they oppose abortion.

the homeless population are people are in dire straits. they're so poor, they literally have no place to live. they live in a tent without access to a bathroom except here and there.

Seattle complains about "public safety" and "reclaiming our parks", vague terms for what we really mean, which is push their poverty out of town so it doesn't impact me or my property. We don't care where it goes, but we don't want to see it any more.

We're electing sincere centrists that play to this kneejerk reaction, but they have no idea how to solve an intractable, NATIONAL problem except with cruelty.

Many churches try, but the problem is beyond their abilities - maybe not the RCC's, though...

And reverse the church's stance on birth control and start empowering women in the third world.

Anything else is pissing in the wind, you pious creep.
