Biden sets out oil, gas leasing reform, stops short of ban

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration on Friday recommended an overhaul of the nation’s oil and gas leasing program to limit areas available for energy development and raise costs for oil and gas companies to drill on public land and water.

The long-awaited report by the Interior Department stops short of recommending an end to oil and gas leasing on public lands, as many environmental groups have urged. But officials said the report would lead to a more responsible leasing process that provides a better return to U.S. taxpayers.

“Our nation faces a profound climate crisis that is impacting every American,? Interior Secretary Deb Haaland said in a statement, adding that the new report’s recommendations will mitigate worsening climate change impacts “while staying steadfast in the pursuit of environmental justice.?

The report completes a review ordered in January by President Joe Biden, who directed a pause in federal oil and gas lease sales in his first days in office, citing worries about climate change.

The oil and gas lease program is nothing but massive socialist corporate welfare. It should have ended years ago.
Next he should remove all subsidies from the entire socialist ethanol scam. It is no better for the environment. “When it comes to the emissions that cause global warming, it turns out that biofuels are worse than gasoline.” According to London Telegraph, Professor John DeCicco. Why am I forced to buy ethanol. Shouldn't it stand on its own in the market. Socialism forces me to buy it. Baby Bush started the program and it is propped up with socialist corporate welfare.
Not that I have anything against socialism it is just that corporate America refuses to admit they are the BIGGEST users of and benefit the most from socialism in America. We spend way more on corporate welfare than on social welfare. Reagan lied there are no welfare queens only socialist corporate welfare queens.

5. You dont HAVE to buy ethanol. I can get non-ethanol at many local stations.

Costs more, but you get better mileage.

Everything around here is minimum 10% Ethanol. I have to assume it's for pollution/emission control.

7. Can't get it in south eastern PA.

I got 15 gallons of bad gas this summer. It would not run my small engines. I put sea foam in and they ran a little better.
I really think it is a scam. The republicans started it and it directly benefits the farmers. They created a market for something I don't want..

9. Around here it's another 50 cents a gallon at QT

So that kind of effects mileage. Hell I put E20 in a 15 year old Infinity G35 coupe and it gets 22 mpg in the city. That fuel at certain outlets is 2.76 right now. Non ethanol fuel is around 3.50.

I support the Ethanol industry and don't believe any of that "it ruins your engine" BS. I put ethanol in a former work cargo van from the day I got it used at 40k miles. The engine finally shot craps 14 years later at 276,000 miles and it wasn't because of a fuel failure.

10. I've run over 2M miles with it over 30 yrs. 8 vehicles

Best one i had was an '08 Pontiac G6. Sold it with 340,000 on it. Only changed the water pump.
But i do buy the non ethanol for chainsaws & the like. And i know people who wont put it in boat motors

11. Not in most of the Midwest

There's just one station in my town that has non-ethanol gas, and it clearly states it's only for sale for small engines like snow blowers or chainsaws. The pump is closest to the front of the store so they can watch to see you're just filling up a gas can with it.

Everything else is E10, E15 or E85 now. Corn is king up here.
