Judge blocks COVID vaccine mandate for Head Start program

Source: Associated Press

MONROE, La. (AP) — President Joe Biden cannot require teachers in the Head Start early education program to be vaccinated against COVID-19, a Louisiana federal judge ruled Saturday, handing a victory to 24 states that had sued the federal government.

U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty wrote that the Biden administration unlawfully bypassed Congress when ordering that workers in Head Start programs be vaccinated by Jan. 31 and that students 2 years or older be masked when indoors or when in close contact outdoors.

Head Start is a federally funded program that promotes education for children under the age of 6 who are from low-income families.

Doughty, an appointee of then-President Donald Trump, wrote that the separation of powers is crucial to the country’s founding and quoted former President Ronald Reagan, who said “the nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’”

Many kids in the Head Start programs are already disadvantaged and lack resources for food nutrition, regular medical care, etc. Since they are under school age, they cannot be vaccinated and would benefit from teachers who have been immunized. As usual, the poor are the ones getting fucked over and taking the brunt of this pandemic.

Let me guess.....they can't mandate masks there, either.

14. And in Louisiana, many of these poor children will be black.

I’m betting this judge has no concern whatsoever either for the poor or for black children—just doing what Trump appointed him to do and that is hurt people who are already struggling.

A TFG appointee quoting Reagan is to not the basis for legal judgement.

The reasoning behind it would have Congress micromanaging every policy rather than allowing the administration to administer the law. How very Libertarian of the Justice, wouldn't you say?

to deny funding for organizations that perform abortions or perform research using cells from aborted human fetuses it should be legal to deny funds to states, people and or organizations that decide to roll the dice and not take the vaccine.

No funding of any kind, period, unless vaccinated. This needs to be ratcheted up significantly if this is ever going to stop.

No more unemployment, SS, SSI, SNAP, Medicare, Medicaid, housing & heating assistance, refundable tax credits, or student loans to any unvaccinated individuals.

We’ve seen these anti-American judges paying off their debts to TFG before and we’ll likely see it again. Luckily they are not the final end to the judicial process.
