Eldest Trump children won't comply with subpoenas from New York attorney general

Source: abc

Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump are now respondents in the civil case.

The document, filed jointly by New York Attorney General Letitia James and an attorney for the Trump Organization, said Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump will now be named as respondents in James’ ongoing inquiry, which parallels a criminal investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

“As her investigation into financial dealing of the Trump Organization continues, Attorney General James is seeking interviews under oath of Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Ivanka Trump," a spokesperson for the AG's office said. ...................................

Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump sought to quash the subpoenas Monday evening in a motion.

Alan Futerfas, an attorney representing both Trump children, questioned James' motives: her office is also involved in the criminal investigation of the Trump Organization.

“The goal of the subpoenas is all too clear: Attorney General James seeks to circumvent the entire grand jury process and nullify Moving Parties’ most fundamental constitutional and statutory rights by requesting that they provide non-immunized testimony to the OAG – when the OAG/DANY is jointly conducting a grand jury investigation,” Futerfas wrote in a motion to quash the subpoenas, which he said violate the rules of criminal procedure.........................

Well, I am trying not to be a pessimist--but it is hard to do when the Trumps are involved.

NY AG James
@NewYorkStateAG
Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Ivanka Trump are trying to stop my office from interviewing them under oath as part of our investigation into the Trump Organization and Mr. Trump.

Over two years of delay tactics won't stop our investigation because no one is above the law.

BREAKING: Donald tRump Jr. and Ivanka tRump have been subpoenaed by the New York Attorney General.

In typical #tRumpCrimeFamily fashion, they are refusing to comply. After all, if you're a tRump, you don't have to follow the law like the "little people."

Attorney General Letitia James has also sought testimony from the former president and Eric Trump.

.....................
.............................

The attorney general’s office has been seeking to question Donald Trump under oath in early January, though the former president’s attorneys filed a federal lawsuit in December in an effort to block the probe and prevent him from having to testify.

The elder Trump has repeatedly attacked the integrity of Attorney General Letitia James and the investigation being conducted by her office as motivated by James’ personal animus and political ambitions.

"Letitia James is the single most unethical Attorney General this country has ever seen," Alina Habba, a Trump attorney, said in a statement. "The way she has weaponized her office through this political witch hunt exceeds all bounds of prosecutorial standards and violates basic constitutional rights."

The exact scope of James’ fraud investigation remains unknown, but her investigators have been collaborating with a parallel criminal investigation by the Manhattan district attorney’s office — until recently led by Cyrus Vance Jr. — which has been looking into allegations of business, insurance, bank and tax fraud.

Ivanka and Jared moved to Florida last year, and Junior lives somewhere - California maybe? Not sure.

But yes I believe the Attorney General can stop them (and arrest them) if they do try to enter the state.

They are setting things up to make themselves out to be political prisoners. If they had a chance to beat the rap, they wouldn't be doing this. All it takes is one person on the jury to refuse to convict them, but in New York it might be harder than other places.

We really need to establish like right now that subpoenas are not something one can disregard with impunity.

USA will be dealing with these jailbirds a long time after DJT is long gone. I wish there were someway to just put a stop on all of them....or better yet, why don't they all just move to Russia and upset their lives. Anyone else ignoring a subpoena would end up in jail, why not these people?
