Immigration Minister Alex Hawke weighing up decision on Novak Djokovic

Source: ABC Australia

A spokesperson for Australia's Immigration Minister says no decision has been made on whether to allow Novak Djokovic to stay in Australia.

This comes after a judge ruled the Serbian tennis star be released from detention after his visa was cancelled by Australia Border Force when he arrived in Melbourne.

While the court ruled in favour of Djokovic, Immigration Minister Alex Hawke does have the authority to cancel the Serbian's visa, a move which would bar Djokovic from entering the country for three years.

but then this comes along:

The family of Novak Djokovic has refused to answer questions about the tennis star's positive PCR result.

Djokovic is under scrutiny after legal documents showed he tested positive for Covid on 16 December, yet still attended indoor public events in the days after.

Watch the moment the family swiftly ended a press conference when asked if the tennis star was at an event on 17 December.

If he'd not yet been notified of that positive result, it would have been very easy for them to say that. That they didn't makes it look like either (a) he had been notified of the positive result, but ignored it to do unmasked close-contact PR events with people outside his household or (b) the "positive result" was magicked up at a later date to give him a way into Australia.
