Wisconsin judge lets GOP-led election review continue

Source: Politico

Astate judge in Wisconsin is allowing a GOP-led review of the 2020 election to proceed in the state, turning back — at least temporarily — a bid to stymie the probe led by the Democratic state attorney general.

In Wisconsin, former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman is leading an investigation of the 2020 election with the blessing of state Assembly Speaker Robin Vos. Election experts have warned that post-election partisan reviews, like the one in the state, are harmful to the democratic system because they can serve as vehicles to legitimize, rather than allay, former President Donald Trump's conspiracy theories about widespread fraud in the 2020 election.

Dane County Circuit Court Judge Rhonda Lanford issued a ruling on Monday that denied state Attorney General Josh Kaul’s bid to undercut Gableman’s probe. Kaul sought to block a subpoena Gableman sent to Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe to compel her testimony.

Kaul’s suit sought a temporary injunction to stop the subpoena, arguing in part that it should be unenforceable because it was too broad and because it sought Wolfe’s testimony in private rather than in public.

I bet if they looked at some of the red counties, you could have found something months ago.

Too bad Senator Proxmire isn't in the Senate these days. This would definitely be on his Golden Fleece list.

forget about the fiasco in the GQP stronghold of Waukesha County back when Walker was governor-elect. Good old Kathy Nickolaus was county clerk and in charge of elections. A controversial 2011 Supreme Court race involved a GQP hack with a notorious temper and foul mouth who as a side-note was later accused of physically attacking a female justice. The initial results showed that he lost to the woman running against him who had been an assistant AG for the state. Two days after the election she held a news conference and claimed she had "found" over 14,000 votes and now the GQP candidate was way ahead. Turns out this was also not her first time of being "useful" in shenanigans during elections. Such as when the county found out she had removed all of the election counting/processing/tallying software from the county computer system and had transferred it all to a single PC in her office that only she had access to. Gee I wonder why someone might do that? She claimed the "found" votes were because she had forgotten to hit "save" while running Microsoft software. She had no explanation when it was pointed out to her that the software she was using does Auto-save all by itself. Why would anybody possibly trust a county clerk who had a sketchy past when working in the State Legislature and for the GQP? Millions of dollars in political corruption but she got to skate by turning into a witness and getting immunity for her actions. Throughout it all good old Kathy received no criticism at all from the GQP leaders and the hack leading their current boondoggle witchhunt.

someone would remember!! The election of Prosser was critical for the GQP to keep their majority on the court and one of Walker's top campaign people e-mailed that around. The investigation of Walker for using taxpayer money and state employees for campaign work was halted by the State Supreme Court with Prosser casting the deciding vote.

Than Arizona. Mark my words. When this is done there will be enough shame and humiliation to cover all of the major players in a thick layer of stank. The CyberNinjas will look like experts when the smoke clears in WI.

WI has open records laws, and they have been used extensively by both sides in the past, so you know the Republicans are doing everything they can to dodge them.

is a current court case where GQP Speaker Vos is claiming he has almost no records or documents of the activity of this crackpot he appointed to run around and "investigate" the election. The judge ordered the documents turned over and the last I knew was considering contempt charges for Vos.

Like Snotty Walker tried. Instead, they are probably using a 3rd party encrypted messaging service like TFG and his cronies use.
