GOP Rep. Davidson compares vaccine mandates to the Holocaust

Last edited Wed Jan 12, 2022, 07:19 PM - Edit history (1)

Source: NBC News

WASHINGTON — Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, on Wednesday compared Covid vaccine mandates to the Holocaust, a statement that was met with swift backlash from Jewish groups.

Davidson made the comparison by retweeting a post from Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser about a new vaccine policy and sharing the photo of a health pass that people were required to carry under the Nazi regime.

Bowser’s tweet was a reminder that starting Saturday, people over the age of 12 will need to present proof of at least one Covid vaccine dose in order to enter indoor food and drink establishments in D.C. such as restaurants, nightclubs, taverns, coffee shops and food halls.

Davidson, who was elected in 2016 to his seat previously held by former House Speaker John Boehner, wrote of the Nazi document, “This has been done before. #DoNotComply.”

Either way it explains why they loathe education.

My god, even if you don't want vaccine mandates, comparing them to the holocaust is the fucking dumbest and most insensitive thing you can say.

One, the person had to prove they were pure Germans and produce papers since the suspicion was that everyone was "untermench"

The other, the person has to prove they are American citizens since the suspicion is that everyone is an undocumented person

That's more of a complete comparison than vaccine mandates are to government run death squads and camps

BTW, I'm Jewish and this use of Nazism like this is repulsive.

I swear, the few times I've ever heard the Holocaust come up in conversation - there's almost always some Republican with a justification at the ready.

Usually comes down to "Hitler had to defend his country" - or some such monstrosity.

...in order to go to public school it was required that we all have a series of vaccinations - smallpox, polio (and boosters), and optionally measles and mumps, although those last two weren't readily available yet. All of us growing up back then had a circular scar on our arms, which was left after getting the smallpox vaccine.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, we had an influx of immigrants who SURVIVED the Holocaust! Many European Jews emigrated to Brooklyn, adults and children, after they were rescued from the German concentration camps. It was not uncommon to see people in stores and on the street with numbers tattooed on their arms.

As someone here suggested, he should be FORCED to visit the Holocaust Museum to see what the the Holocaust was all about. It certainly wasn't even close to getting a freaking vaccine, dammit!!

I hate shit like this.

... I had some friends he was in N Africa, Europe, and was in when they liberated one of the camps according to his wife he was still OK until he got to one of the concentration camps and after that he was gone mentally. He just sat on his porch and smoked cigarettes and never really spoke. This was 30 + years later.

What is the matter with some people?

This includes family on the sides of both my parents and of my wife. My FIL helped to liberate Dachau. So, if we are doing comparisons: the European members of our families were killed by the disease. The members of the US Army were the antibodies and the killer T-cells induced by the vaccine. We who remember what happened and who educate subsequent generations as to the nature of this disease (anti-semitism, bigotry, racism, etc.) are the memory T-cells and memory B-cells.

Those who present false comparisons and lie about the nature of the disease are a combination of immuno-suppressive agents and new variants of the hate virus.

However, we could just say that people like Rep. Davidson are just hate-filled shmucks.
